Incident Summary (crime and other)
There were 6 incidents in Howick. There was 1 incident in the Karkloof. There was 1 incident in Petrus Stroom. There was 1 incident in Merrivale.
KSS Incidents 28 October – 3 November 2019
28 October 2019 07:19 Karkloof Road (Karkloof) The KSS Control Room was advised that an unalarmed out-building had been broken into. An amplifier was stolen. SAPS were advised and case was opened.
28 October 2019 16:30 Hayfields Road (Howick) An alert KSS Reaction Officer apprehended a suspect in possession of a stolen hose-pipe. The suspect was handed over to SAPS.
29 October 2019 05:30 Petrus Stroom Road (Petrus Stroom) The KSS Control Room was advised that there had been a positive break-in. There was no alarm in the storeroom and the house alarm was not armed. Numerous items were stolen including a bar fridge, cooler box, tools and a bicycle. SAPS were advised and a case was opened.
29 October 2019 17:50 Falls Drive (Howick) KSS Operations staff were advised that there was a missing person in the Howick Falls area. The KSS Operations teams and Technical teams were dispatched to assist SAPS with this incident. Thank you to all community role-players involved as well as SAPS and the Search and Rescue teams. The case is still under SAPS investigation.
30 October 2019 08:20 Athlone Avenue (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from the client advising that the gate battery had been stolen and gate motor damaged. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officer assisted the client at SAPS with opening a case.
1 November 2019 14:22 Anderson Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room was advised that a hope pipe had been stolen from the property. The client advised no need for KSS or SAPS, he just wanted to make us aware.
1 November 2019 17:27 Midmar Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from Red Alert requesting a KSS Response unit be dispatched to an alarm activation. The KSS Officers reported that the fence had been cut. The client reported to site and the fence was repaired.
2 November 2019 03:29 Exchange Lane (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation from the on-site Security guard. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officer reported that a caravan had been broken into but noting was stolen. The client advised no need for SAPS.
2 November 2019 13:29 Main Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance as there was a suspect at the fence line. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officer reported that there were illegal electrical connections to the DB box. The client advised that they would contact Eskom.
