KSS Incidents 21 - 31 December 2019
Dear KSS Clients
Congratulations to all community role-players who have been involved in making this a low crime festive season. The teamwork and collaborative efforts of SAPS, UCSI, Neighbourhood Watch Groups, CPF, Security Companies and vigilant community members is appreciated and to be commended.
Thank you to all those who have made a difference.
It does pay off to alarm your house and have a security company respond to your premises. Read the report below.
Incident summary (crime and other)
There were 5 incidents in Howick. There were 4 incidents in Merrivale. There was 1 incident in Howick West.
KSS Incidents 21 – 31 December 2019
23 December 2019 04:00 Acacia Road (Howick West) The KSS Control Room were advised a about a positive break-in. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that electronic items had been stolen. There were no signs of forced entry. SAPS were advised.
24 December 2019 00:13 Harvard Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from another Security Company requesting assistance as one of their clients had had a positive break-in. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that entry was gained through the roof. Nothing was stolen. A case was opened with SAPS.
24 December 2019 04:13 Exchange Lane (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the fence had been cut. The client advised no need for SAPS.
25 December 2019 01:00 D292 (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation and a call from a client requesting assistance as the dogs were barking. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the cottage had been broken into. SAPS were advised and KSS handed the incident over to SAPS. A case was opened. KSS posted a KSS Security Guard on site for the remainder of the night.
26 December 2019 02:50 Hillbrow Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported a positive break-in. The suspects fled the scene. KSS Officers recovered various stolen items. Suspects gained entry by cutting the fence and smashing a window. SAPS were advised and took over the incident from KSS.
27 December 2019 22:00 Boston Bulwer Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room were advised by a KSS Security Guard that a truck had lost control and driven through a perimeter fence. A KSS Response unit, SAPS and Ambulance Services were dispatched. KSS secured the perimeter fence line and incident was handed over to SAPS and relevant role-players.
28 December 2019 09:17 Mare Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room were advised about patio chairs and hose-pipe that had been stolen. The client advised no need for SAPS and requested KSS to do additional patrols in the area.
29 December 2019 11:57 Plane Crescent (Howick) The KSS Control Room were advised about a suspicious man in Main Street, Howick. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that they had apprehended the man and recovered stolen items. The suspect informed the KSS Officers where he had stolen the items from. SAPS were advised and KSS handed the incident over to SAPS.
30 December 2019 11:30 Merrivale Rural (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room were advised about a break-in. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained through the security gate and front door. There was no alarm set. Items were stolen. Some of the stolen items were recovered in a nearby bush. SAPS were advised.
30 December 2019 12:00 Geekie Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room were advised about a positive break-in at an unalarmed residence by a community member. A KSS Response unit and SAPS were dispatched. Due to the house being unalarmed or protected by any security company, the perpetrators had time to steal everything in the house – including copper pipes, plumbing and the BD board wiring. SAPS took over the incident.
It is definitely better to stay “alarmed” and protected – and it is our pleasure to keep our clients safe.
