There were 2 incidents in Merrivale. There was 1 incident in Merrivale Heights.

KSS Incidents 24 – 31 July 2020
27 July 2020 08:57 Zeederberg Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that suspects had tried to steal items from the shop. The suspects were apprehended. SAPS were dispatched. KSS handed the incident over to SAPS.

27 July 2020 12:00 Oleander Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room were advised about a break-in. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a gutter had been stolen. The incident was formally reported to SAPS. A case was opened.

30 July 2020 08:57 Birnamwood Road (Merrivale Heights) The KSS Control Room were advised about a break-in. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that suspects gained entry by digging a hole under the fence. A remote was stolen from an unlocked vehicle. Two bicycles were also stolen. The incident was formally reported to SAPS. A case was opened.

Please note that once you have installed the Telegram App on your phone and the KSS bot has been activated (see our website www.knightsecurity.co.za for details on how to do this in previous newsletters), you need to inform Monique at the KSS office at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or on 033 330 5911, to have your cell number enabled on our monitoring system. This will ensure that your alarm notifications are activated and you receive them on your phone.

REMEMBER: KSS has migrated the sms system of notifications over to the Telegram App system. Please communicate with us so we can make sure you are fully set up and will receive your notifications.

Crime information
Please note that the number of phone in reports has increased due to more people working from home. Please be extra vigilant while at home and ensure that if you do pop out, that you set your alarm. There are increased reports of intruders and opportunists jumping over walls and also walking into unarmed (alarm not set) houses.

Please also be aware that with the fibre installations taking place in Hilton and Howick, there have been additional opportunistic incidents reported. KSS is patrolling these areas.

KSS Incidents 13 – 23 July 2020
13 July 2020 10:21 R103 (Midmar Dam) The KSS Control Room were advised about a break-in. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that suspects had broken the storeroom garage door. Petrol, a chain saw and a pressure cleaner were stolen. The incident was formally reported to SAPS. A case was opened.

13 July 2020 14:07 Schoeman Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room were advised about a suspect on site. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the suspect had been tampering with vehicles. The suspect was apprehended. The incident was formally reported to SAPS, who took over the incident. A case was opened.

16 July 2020 16:00 Edgar Isaacs Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room were advised about a break-in. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the suspects gained entry through a hole in the fence and then forced a sliding door open. The alarm was not set. Various electronic and food items were stolen. The incident was formally reported to SAPS. A case was opened.

17 July 2020 13:00 Drew Avenue (Howick) The KSS Control Room were advised about a break-in. The alarm was not set. Various garden implements were stolen. The client advised SAPS and a case was opened.

19 July 2020 02:30 Hayfields Road (Hilton) The KSS Control Room were advised about a break-in. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the fence had been cut. Various electronic items, food and jewellery were stolen. The incident was formally reported to SAPS. A case was opened.
