A number of suspects were apprehended this past week and handed over to SAPS.
Lockdown Crime Update
There has been an increase in crime - mostly opportunistic, and a number of laptops have been stolen. There have also been numerous intruders reported. Please be aware of people walking around during the day and be aware of leaving doors and windows open at night when you are at home.
Please be extra vigilant and understand that SAPS, Law Enforcement and Private Security companies are doing their absolute best under these unprecedented circumstances.
KSS will continue to serve the community at 110%. All resources are being utilized and we will continue to deliver the service our clients are accustomed to. We thank all our unsung heroes - our amazing staff. EVERY ONE of them have stepped up to the plate. Truly humbling.

KSS Incidents 23 – 31 March 2020
23 March 2020 06:39 Zeederberg Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room observed suspects on site through CCTV camera monitoring. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the suspects tried to steal 2 sails. The suspects fled. KSS Officers recovered 1 sail.
23 March 2020 10:56 Andrew Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there was suspect on site who claimed to be checking the water meter. A laptop was stolen and the suspect fled. KSS units patrolled the area. SAPS were advised. A case was opened.
23 March 2020 20:12 Keans Drive (Hilton) The KSS Control Room were advised about a positive break-in. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that entry was gained through an open bathroom window. The alarm was not armed. A handbag and laptop were stolen. SAPS were advised. A case was opened.
24 March 2020 11:50 Doveton Place (Howick) The KSS Control Room were advised about a positive break-in. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a laptop had been stolen through an open window. SAPS were advised. A case was opened.
24 March 2020 10:12 Falls Drive (Howick) The KSS Control Room were advised about a positive break-in. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that suspects had cut the fence and then cut the locks on the gas cages. A gas bottle, table and chairs were stolen. SAPS were advised. A case was opened.
25 March 2020 07:05 Karkloof Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room were advised about a positive break-in. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that suspects had dug under the fence. A TV and other items were stolen. SAPS were advised. A case was opened.
25 March 2020 11:41 Normandy Place (Pietermaritzburg) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. An Amlec Response unit was dispatched. The Amlec Officers reported that suspects had broken a window. A TV and other electronic items were stolen. SAPS were advised. A case was opened.
25 March 2020 11:57 Byrnewood Road (Merrivale Heights) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance as there was a suspect on site. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers gave chase and the suspect was apprehended. One KSS Officer was injured. The suspect was handed over to SAPS. A case was opened.
25 March 2020 20:30 Rosebank Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room were advised about a positive break-in to the garden shed. The client reported that access was gained by breaking the lock on the gate. Garden implements were stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS.
26 March 2020 02:36 Karkloof Road (Karkloof) The KSS Control Room received a call from the Ballid Control requesting a KSS Response unit to check on an alarm activation. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that suspects had tried to steal a vehicle and that the front door had been forced open. SAPS were advised.
26 March 2020 10:32 Solitree Road (Howick West) The KSS Control Room were advised about a positive break-in. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the fence had been cut and the front door forced open. Household items were stolen. SAPS were advised. A case was opened.
28 March 2020 22:48 York Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers confirmed a break-in. Access was gained through a garage window. Various items were stolen, but KSS Officers managed to recover the items. SAPS were advised. A case was opened.
28 March 2020 09:00 York Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room were advised that a cell phone had been stolen. Access was gained through a window. SAPS were advised. A case was opened.
28 March 2020 14:00 Main Street (Howick) The UCSI received a SNIPR alert and advised KSS, Ballid Security and SAPS. The suspect was driving a stolen vehicle. KSS Officers apprehended the suspect. The suspect was handed over to SAPS. The vehicle was impounded.
29 March 2020 07:00 Link Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from the client advising that suspects had cut the fence, but then fled. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.
30 March 2020 15:00 Campbell Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there had been suspects on site. Roof tiles had been removed. A compressor was stolen. SAPS were advised.
30 March 2020 19:52 Braemar Crescent (Howick) The KSS Control Room were advised by the client that there was a suspect on site. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the suspect had fled when he noticed the client. A ladder was dropped by the suspect and recovered by KSS Officers. Nothing was stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS.
31 March 2020 11:15 Caversham Road (Lidgeton) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation. The client advised there was an intruder in the house who he had apprehended, but then managed to get away. SAPS were advised.
31 March 2020 12:30 Buchanan Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room were advised that a client had apprehended a trespasser on his property. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the suspect was handed over to SAPS. A case was opened.
31 March 2020 14:00 Moonwalk Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from the client advising that a wheelbarrow had been stolen. From the garden. As per the client no need for SAPS.
31 March 2020 16:27 Zeederberg Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a lady had been robbed outside a retail outlet. Various personal items were stolen. SAPS were advised. KSS Officers assisted the lady with SAPS and opening a case.
