This week has been another productive one for alert KSS Officers and the highly proficient KSS Technical division. CCTV cameras were used proactively in the apprehension of a suspect.
Love Howick Hunger Busters
Love Howick Hunger Busters has handed out 134 food parcels to homeless/poor folk in the CDB comprising of a variety of items. These are: apples, bananas, bread, cheese, eggs, frozen homemade soups and stews, maize, peanut butter, potatoes, tinned baked beans, tinned pilchards, toothpaste, soap, sugar and tea bags.
A big thank you to the kind and caring community of Howick for EFT donations (banking details below) and food item donations. Drop-off points for donated items are: The Big Freeze, Main Street (between The Grapevine and Oasis church), and Hopewell’s in Harvard Street (opposite St Luke’s church).
There are 51 folk on the database that are being feed.

There were 10 incidents in Howick. There were 2 incidents in Hilton. There were 2 incidents in Fort Nottingham. There was 1 incident in Merrivale. There was 1 incident in Howick West.
KSS Incidents 7 – 13 April 2020
7 April 2020 19:00 Oakleigh Drive (Howick) The KSS Control Room were advised about a break-in. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a caravan had been broken into. Items were stolen but were dropped by the suspect and recovered by KSS. SAPS were advised.
8 April 2020 07:22 Campbell Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room responded to CCTV footage of a suspect jumping over a fence into a client’s property. Two KSS Response units were immediately dispatched. The KSS Officers apprehended the suspect. Nothing was stolen. The client was advised and very pleased. The suspect was handed over to SAPS.
8 April 2020 17:29 Rotunda Road (Hilton) The KSS Control Room were advised about a break-in. A desk and shelf had been stolen. SAPS were advised. A case was opened.
9 April 2020 09:58 Rosebank Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that suspects gained access to a cottage through the window. Nothing was stolen. SAPS were advised.
9 April 2020 13:42 Dennis Shepstone Drive (Hilton) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the suspect had climbed through and open window and stolen an iPad. The suspect fled. SAPS were advised. A case was opened.
10 April 2020 15:14 Devonshire Ave (Howick) The KSS Control Room were advised that linen had been stolen through an open window. Something had been used to hook the linen off the bed. As per client no need for SAPS.
10 April 2020 17:00 Sunningdale Ave (Howick) The KSS Control Room were advised that stolen items had been located along the river. KSS Officers assisted with the recovery of the items.
10 April 2020 19:54 Fort Nottingham Road (Fort Nottingham) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. Ballid Security were dispatched. The Response Officers reported that the kitchen door had been broken. Local SAPS were advised. A Security Guard was placed on site for the night.
11 April 2020 15:30 Mare Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room were advised about a break-in. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers confirmed that it was not a KSS client. The KSS Control Room advised the respective security company. A storeroom had been broken into. The owner was grateful for KSS’s assistance. Additional patrols were conducted in the area.
11 April 2020 20:05 Zeederberg Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported an armed robbery. Two suspects with firearms made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspects were on foot. SAPS were advised. A case was opened.
11 April 2020 20:27 Sunningdale Ave (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that jewellery had been stolen through an open window. One suspect was apprehended the other fled on foot. The suspect was handed over to SAPS. A case was opened.
12 April 2020 19:30 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the fence had been cut. No access was gained.
12 April 2020 20:20 Karkloof Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a KSS Security Guard advising that an outside light had been stolen. The client was advised.
12 April 2020 21:34 Protea Road (Howick West) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there had been suspects on site. A plastic chair and bin were stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS.
12 April 2020 21:34 Fort Nottingham Road (Fort Nottingham) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. Ballid Security were dispatched. The Response Officers reported that the kitchen door had been broken again. Local SAPS were advised. A Security Guard was placed on site for the night.
12 April 2020 21:54 Market Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there had been a suspect on site. A ladder was recovered. As per the client no need for SAPS.
