KSS Incident Report 1 - 10 June 2020
Dear KSS Clients
KSS Operations Staff apprehend more criminals
Apprehended criminals in Merrivale and Howick were handed over accordingly to SAPS. KSS works closely with SAPS and all KSS incidents are reported to the respective SAPS stations.
Herewith the incidents (crime or client assistance with medical, animals or livestock, staffing, fire etc...) that KSS attended to over the past 10 days.
There were ten (11) incidents in Howick. There were five (5) incidents in Merrivale. There were two (2) incidents in Taylors Halt. There was one (1) incident in Hilton. There was one (1) incident in Mpophomeni. There was one (1) incident in Lions River.
NOTE: The KSS K9 unit with a sniffer dog is dispatched to assist when necessary.
Numerous incidents involved outbuildings, sheds, garages, carports and Wendy houses being broken into. Often these outbuildings are not alarmed or protected by external beams.
It is also noticeable that alarms are at times not set when these incidents occur. Please be vigilant about setting your alarm.
Fences being cut, walls being jumped, windows being broken and front or kitchen doors being damaged are the main source of access.
Please note that vehicles and vehicle contents are a target at the moment. Vehicles parked outside are vulnerable and it is suggested that external beams be installed as an early warning trigger.
Gates being tampered with has been noted and it is possible to link you gate motor / battery to your alarm system so you can be alerted to an activation or tampering.
Copper pipes, laptops, electronic equipment, tools garden implements and garden furniture are the targeted items. Please ensure that these items are secured or covered by beams and not left lying around in view of the road.
