REMEMBER: KSS has migrated the sms system of notifications over to the Telegram App system. Please communicate with us so we can make sure you are fully set up and will receive your notifications.

Crime information
Please note that the number of phone in reports has increased due to more people working from home. Please be extra vigilant while at home and ensure that if you do pop out, that you set your alarm. There are increased reports of intruders and opportunists jumping over walls and also walking into unarmed (alarm not set) houses.

Please also be aware that with the fibre installations taking place in Hilton and Howick, there have been additional opportunistic incidents reported. KSS is patrolling these areas.

There were 4 incidents in Howick. There were 3 incidents in Merrivale. There were 3 incidents in Hilton. There was 1 incident in Midmar.

KSS Incidents 13 – 23 July 2020
13 July 2020 10:21 R103 (Midmar Dam) The KSS Control Room were advised about a break-in. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that suspects had broken the storeroom garage door. Petrol, a chain saw and a pressure cleaner were stolen. The incident was formally reported to SAPS. A case was opened.

13 July 2020 14:07 Schoeman Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room were advised about a suspect on site. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the suspect had been tampering with vehicles. The suspect was apprehended. The incident was formally reported to SAPS, who took over the incident. A case was opened.

16 July 2020 16:00 Edgar Isaacs Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room were advised about a break-in. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the suspects gained entry through a hole in the fence and then forced a sliding door open. The alarm was not set. Various electronic and food items were stolen. The incident was formally reported to SAPS. A case was opened.

17 July 2020 13:00 Drew Avenue (Howick) The KSS Control Room were advised about a break-in. The alarm was not set. Various garden implements were stolen. The client advised SAPS and a case was opened.

19 July 2020 02:30 Hayfields Road (Hilton) The KSS Control Room were advised about a break-in. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the fence had been cut. Various electronic items, food and jewellery were stolen. The incident was formally reported to SAPS. A case was opened.

19 July 2020 20:08 Park Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room were advised about a break-in. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the suspects gained entry by jumping over the wall. The house was unlocked. Various were stolen, but then recovered down the road. The incident was formally reported to SAPS. A case was opened.

20 July 2020 01:37 Hilton College Road (Hilton) The KSS Control Room were advised about a break-in. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the suspects gained entry by jumping over the front gate. Food was stolen. The incident was reported to SAPS. As per the client they did not want to open a case. NOTE: The client formally thanked KSS staff for the prompt and professional response.

21 July 2020 06:30 Burleigh Road (Hilton) The KSS Control Room were advised about a break-in. A KSS Response unit and the KSS K9 unit were dispatched. The incident was formally reported to SAPS and SAPS took over the incident. There were too many people on scene for the K9 dog to pick up a scent.

22 July 2020 07:48 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room were advised about a break-in. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that copper pipes and taps had been stolen. The client advised that he would inform SAPS.

22 July 2020 15:00 Plane Crescent (Howick) The KSS Control Room were advised about a suspicious person in the area. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that one of the men laying the fibre cables in the area was going through a vehicle parked on the side of the road. Nothing was stolen. KSS is conducting additional patrols in the area.

23 July 2020 13:46 Wiese Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation. A KSS Response unit was immediately dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a suspect had jumped over the wall. A wheelbarrow, braai stand and tools were stolen. KSS Officers recovered the stolen items. The incident was formally reported to SAPS. A case was opened.
