KSS Incident Report 11 - 20 October 2020

It has been a busy, productive and rewarding week.
UCSI success
KSS continues to support the UCSI and on 16 October 2020 assisted Hilton SAPS and the Flying Squad in the arrest of a wanted vehicle and suspects. Thanks to the effective network of UCSI SNIPR cameras in our area, the UCSI were able to alert SAPS and affiliated security companies about the entry of this vehicle into our area, and the arrests were made and vehicle impounded.
Joint Operations with SAPS
On Friday 17 October Howick SAPS held a joint operation with the aim of targeting drunken driving. RTI, Umgeni Traffic Department, Knight Security Solutions (KSS) and other security companies assisted Howick SAPS with this operation. Two road blocks were set up and there were approximately 20 arrests made and 1 vehicle impounded.

There were 6 incidents in Merrivale. There were 6 incidents in Howick. There was 1 incident in Hilton.
KSS Incident report 11 – 20 October 2020
11 October 2020 20:38 Oakleigh Drive (Howick) The KSS Control Room were advised about suspects carrying stolen items. KSS Response units were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that one suspect had been apprehended by another security company. It was established where the items had been stolen from and the client was advised. SAPS were formally advised and the suspect was taken into custody. A case was opened.
12 October 2020 06:14 Umgeni Avenue (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client reporting that a school bag had been stolen. The suspect jumped over the wall and also tampered with a cottage window. As per the client no need for SAPS.
12 October 2020 14:00 Zeederberg Road (Merrivale) A gentleman (non-KSS client) came into the KSS offices queering a possible shooting in the area the previous night. KSS Management advised the gentleman to open a case with SAPS and directed him accordingly.
12 October 2020 16:00 Old Main Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room were advised that a wallet had been stolen. KSS Response units were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that five suspects had fled in a red VW Golf. SAPS and UCSI were formally advised. A case was opened.
13 October 2020 12:00 Laurel Crescent (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room were advised that truck batteries had been stolen. KSS Response units were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained through the fence. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
14 October 2020 12:47 Doveton Place (Howick) The KSS Control Room were advised about a break-in. KSS Response units were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that access was gained through a partially open window. Items were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
16 October 2020 07:30 Anderson Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room were advised that a white Hyundai Bakkie had been stolen. The UCSI and SAPS were advised. The vehicle was eventually recovered north of Durban. The suspects were arrested later that day.
16 October 2020 13:34 Pratt Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room were advised that a non-KSS client had been held up at knife point in his garden the previous evening. Cash, a wallet and various electronic items were stolen. KSS Operations staff assisted the resident. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
16 October 2020 13:55 Baron Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room were advised that a non-KSS client had had a positive break-in the night before. Various items were stolen. KSS Operations staff assisted the resident. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
16 October 2020 20:19 Umgeni Avenue (Howick) The KSS Control Room were advised about an intruder. KSS Response units were dispatched. KSS Officers patrolled the area but the suspect could not be located.
19 October 2020 07:49 Symmonds Lane (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the gate had been tampered with and a battery stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS.
19 October 2020 17:49 Oakleigh Drive (Howick) The KSS Control Room were advised about a suspect on a property. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the client had seen an intruder in the neighbouring property. The suspect fled. Items were stolen. There was no forced entry. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
19 October 2020 18:28 Jasmine Road (Hilton) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. KSS Response units were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that two suspects had attempted to steal items but were apprehended by staff on site. The suspects were handed over to SAPS. A case was opened.
