KSS Incident Report 15 - 31 December 2020

SAPS Operations
On Wednesday 16th December 2020 Howick SAPS held a joint operation with the aim of combating crime.
SAPS, Umngeni Traffic Department, Knight Security Solutions and Magma assisted Howick SAPS with this operation. Three raids were conducted in the locality and 6 arrests were made. Numerous stolen items and illegal substances were recovered.

There were 7 incidents in Howick. There were 3 incidents in Hilton. There were 3 incidents in Merrivale. There was 1 incident in Merrivale Heights. There was 1 incident in Howick West. There was 1 incident in Pietermaritzburg.

KSS Incidents 15 – 31 December 2020
17 December 2020 15:44 Boston Bulwer Road R617 (Merrivale Heights) The KSS Control Room were advised by the on-site Security Guard that a trespasser had been apprehended. A bag was located near the fence line. KSS handed the matter over to SAPS. A case opened.

19 December 2020 20:36 Exchange Lane (Howick) The KSS Control Room dispatched KSS Response units to live CCTV footage of an intruder on site. The KSS Officers reported that the suspect fled when they arrived. A vehicle had been broken into. Nothing was stolen.

21 December 2020 07:39 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client reporting a positive break-in. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a garage had been broken into and 2 brush cutters stolen. The lock on the door had been broken and door forced open. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

25 December 2020 21:46 Tulip Road (Howick West) The KSS Control Room received a call from the client requesting assistance. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there was a suspect on site. The suspect was apprehended. KSS handed the suspect over to SAPS. A case was opened.

26 December 2020 Loram Road (Merrivale) KSS were advised about a break-in. There was no alarm system at the residence. Access was gained through the lounge window. A TV and shoes were stolen.

26 December 2020 13:45 Sentinel Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from the client requesting assistance. KSS Response units were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there were suspects on site. The suspects gained entry through the unlocked pedestrian gate and open back door. The suspects were apprehended and the stolen items recovered. As per the client no need for SAPS.

28 December 2020 00:40 Cedara Road (Hilton) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that suspects had gained entry by cutting the razor wire. Items were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

28 December 2020 03:45 Hillside Road (Hilton) Alert KSS Controllers and Reaction Officers were following up on a CCTV activation in the area and noticed the gate of the residence open. KSS made contact Amlec Security and the client, who confirmed that his vehicle had been stolen. It was also noted that a wallet and keys had been stolen from the house. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened. The vehicle was later recovered.

28 December 2020 04:56 Bell Street (Howick) Alert KSS Response Officers noticed water running from the premises while on patrol. The client was advised and met the KSS Officers on site. Copper pipes had been stolen. The suspects gained antry by jumping the fence. SAPS were formally advised. The client opened a case.

28 December 2020 15:52 Laurel Crescent (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported a break-in. The lock on the office door had been forced open. SAPS were formally advised.

29 December 2020 03:25 Bell Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from the neighbour reporting suspects trying to break-in. KSS Response units were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that copper pipes had been stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened. KSS Officers managed to recover the stolen copper pipes.

29 December 2020 11:18 Celtis Road (Hilton) The KSS Control Room received a call from the client reporting a break-in. KSS Response units were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the client had gone to the shops and not armed the alarm system. Suspects gained entry through the window and a TV, PlayStation and 2 bicycles had been stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

30 December 2020 04:05 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the garage door had been forced open. Nothing was stolen.

30 December 2020 11:55 Saligna Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call from the client advising about a break-in. KSS Response units were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained by breaking the back wall. Items were stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS.

31 December 2020 02:14 Karkloof Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. KSS Response units were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the kitchen door had been forced open. A TV was stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

31 December 2020 03:27 Darvill Road (Pietermaritzburg) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. KSS contacted Amlec Security who responded to the premises. The Amlec Officers reported that they had apprehended the suspect. SAPS were formally advised. The suspect was handed over to SAPS. A case was opened.
