KSS Incident Report 22 - 30 April 2021

Dear KSS Clients

Please remain vigilant and alert. Always set your alarm. If you haven’t tested that your alarm system is fully functional in the past 3 months, please do so. Advise the KSS Control Room that you want to check your alarm and they will guide you through the process. Should you need a technician, then a job card will be made out accordingly.

Incident Summary (crime and other)
There were 6 incidents in Howick. There were 3 incidents in Merrivale. There were 2 incidents in Birnamwood. There was 1 incident in Tweedie, Karkloof and Mpophomeni.

KSS Incidents 22 – 30 April 2021
22 April 2021 07:83 Tweedie Road (Tweedie) The KSS Control Room were advised about a break-in to a shed. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a lawnmower and leaf blower had been stolen. The lawnmower was recovered. SAPS were formally advised and attended the incident. A case was opened.

22 April 2021 09:14 Birnamwood Road (Birnamwood) The KSS Control Room were advised about a break-in to a room that was not actively alarmed. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there was no sign of forced entry. Electronic items were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

23 April 2021 03:59 Karkloof Road (Karkloof) The KSS Control Room were advised that a client had been attacked. KSS Response units, as well as SAPS and Midlands EMS were dispatched. Numerous electronic items and a vehicle were stolen. The vehicle was immediately loaded onto the UCSI SNIPR system. KSS handed the incident over to SAPS, Flying Squad and Midlands EMS. A case was opened.

23 April 2021 21:47 Laurel Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained by breaking a window. Two speakers were stolen but one was recovered by KSS Officers. As per the client no need for SAPS.

23 April 2021 23:37 Ridge Road (Howick) A member of the public called in to the KSS Control Room to request medical assistance. A KSS Response Team and St Michaels Ambulance were dispatched. KSS handed the incident over to the Medical services.

24 April 2021 03:42 Rooken Ridge (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room was advised about suspect on site. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that access was gained by jumping over the back wall and then removing the burglar guards. Items were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

24 April 2021 10:53 Birnamwood Road (Birnamwood) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation and were alerted to poachers on-site. Four KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that they had apprehended 1 suspect. Magma assisted in Cedara and apprehended a second suspect. Both suspects were handed over to Hilton SAPS for further processing and information passed on to the SAPS anti-poaching Team.

24 April 2021 16:01 Morling Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance as there were men on-site fighting with knives. KSS Response Teams, SAPS and St Michaels Ambulance were dispatched. KSS handed the incident over to SAPS and medical services.

25 April 2021 07:53 Plant Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room were advised about a break-in. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that keys for the garage were stolen out of a vehicle. A bicycle and extension cord were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

25 April 2021 16:00 Winston Road (Howick) KSS assisted Howick SAPS with the apprehension of a suspect in possession of hard drugs. SAPS took over the incident.

25 April 2021 21:54 Andrew Street (Howick) A member of the public called in to the KSS Control Room to request assistance as there had been a break-in. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained by jumping over the wall, disabling the gate motor, and forcing open the front door gate and door. A vehicle and numerous items were stolen from the unalarmed house. The vehicle details were loaded onto the UCSI SNIPR system. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

26 April 2021 10:00 R167 Boston Bulwer Road (Mpophomeni) The KSS Control Room were advised that a water pump had been stolen. A KSS Response Team and SAPS were dispatched. A case was opened.

28 April 2021 07:21 D292 (Merrivale rural) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client advising that there had been a break-in. A KSS Response Team were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the fence had been cut 2 truck batteries had been stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS.

30 April 2021 16:36 Greendale Park (Howick) The UCSI Control Room received a hit that a stolen vehicle involved in a murder in Hillbrow (JHB) had entered the Howick area. KSS Response Teams and SAPS were dispatched. The vehicle was located and 2 suspects were detained. The vehicle was impounded and the incident was handed over to SAPS.
