KSS Incident Report 1 - 10 May 2021
Dear KSS Clients
KSS facilitated and assisted in the apprehension and arrests of 7 suspects over the past 10 days. This is great work from a great KSS Operations Team.
Incident Summary (crime and other)
There were 6 incidents in Merrivale. There were 4 incidents in Howick. There was 1 incident in Hilton. There was 1 incident in Mpophomeni.
KSS Incidents 1 – 10 May 2021
1 May 2021 11:50 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation and a CCTV camera movement alert. KSS Response units were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that they had apprehended the suspects. Access was gained by climbing over the wall. SAPS were formally advised. KSS Officers handed the suspects over to SAPS. A case was opened.
2 May 2021 20:04 Campbell Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a window was open and that a wire had been cut. Nothing was stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS.
3 May 2021 07:14 Laurel Crescent (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting Armed Response. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported a positive break-in. Access was gained by cutting the fence. Numerous item were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
3 May 2021 03:00 R617 Boston Bulwer Road (Mpophomeni) The KSS Control Room were advised about a break-in. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that chickens had been stolen. Access was gained through the fence. SAPS were formally advised.
4 May 2021 13:05 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room were advised that gutters had been stolen. KSS Response Teams and SAPS were dispatched. SAPS took over the incident. A case was opened.
5 May 2021 04:00 Rooken Ridge (Merrivale) An alert patrolling KSS Response Team noticed suspects on the premises of a non-KSS monitored client. The owner was advised accordingly. The KSS Officers reported two smashed windows. The suspects fled the premises. Alcohol was stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case opened.
5 May 2021 7:00 Combined Operation (Hilton): KSS assisted the Hilton Crime Prevention Unit, Hilton Detectives and Prestbury Detectives in a combined operation in the early hours of the morning. Three (3) suspects were arrested and property recovered from a murder and house robbery investigation. The suspects will be charged accordingly by SAPS. Thanks extended to KSS for their assistance from Hilton SAPS and Prestbury SAPS.
5 May 2021 07:20 R617 Boston Bulwer Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room were advised that there were suspects on site. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained by cutting the fence and the garage door had been forced open. An extension cord was stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
5 May 2021 9:20 Ogilvie Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room were advised about a positive break-in to un-alarmed premises. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that suspects gained access by jumping the fence and stripped three trailers of their wiring. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
6 May 2021 23:09 Mopani Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported a positive break-in. Access was gained by breaking the kitchen window. Items were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
8 May 2021 01:05 Harvard Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room were contacted by a Gauteng based security company to check up on an alarm activation at a National chain store in the CBD. KSS Response units were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported a positive break-in and that access was gained by cutting a hole through the roof. Cash and cell phones were stolen. KSS Officers managed to recover the cell phones and tools used to break into the premises. Howick SAPS, Hilton Rapid Response and the PMB K9 unit were also dispatched. KSS handed the recovered items over to SAPS. A Security Guard was placed on site. KSS Officers also apprehended a suspect and handed him over to SAPS for further processing. A case was opened.
8 May 2021 08:00 (N3 towards Merrivale) KSS received a call from St Michaels Ambulance Service's reporting a man walking on the N3 towards Merrivale carrying farming equipment. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that they apprehended the man in possession of stolen items. The suspect was handed over to Howick SAPS. A case was opened.
