Please be advised that gate battery and copper piping theft have increased over the past week.
Incident Summary (crime and other)
There were 4 incidents in Howick. There were 2 incidents in Howick West. There was 1 incident in Merrivale.
KSS Incidents 24 – 31 May 2021
24 May 2021 09:00 Essex Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room were advised that a gate motor had been stolen. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
24 May 2021 18:50 Cherry Road (Howick West) The KSS Control Room were advised the meat had been stolen from an outside fridge. KSS Response Teams were dispatched.
24 May 2021 19:38 Exchange Lane (Howick) The KSS Controllers were alerted to a CCTV camera activation and identified a suspect on site. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the suspect had fled. Access was gained through a hole in the fence. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.
24 May 2021 20:20 Essex Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from the client requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the client had heard something outside and when he switched on the light had seen a suspect fleeing. KSS Officers checked the premises. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.
26 May 2021 23:40 Old Main Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room were requested to assist another security company. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that cable had been stolen from the back of the premises. As per the client no need for SAPS.
27 May 2021 03:27 Wiese Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a suspect had been seen entering the premises but had fled. A vehicle was also noticed outside the premises. The vehicle had been broken into and items stolen. SAPS were formally advised and KSS handed the incident over to SAPS. A case was opened.
27 May 2021 14:34 Valley view Road (Howick West) The KSS Control Room were advised about a break-in. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that suspects had gained entry by jumping the fence. Copper pipes and cabling were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
