KSS in our community space
KSS continues to give back and be proactive in our community space. KSS Operations staff continue to facilitate the apprehension of criminals and over the past 10 days 7 suspects have been apprehended and handed over to SAPS. We are proud of the great work these Response and Operations Officers do in our community.

Community CCTV cameras and monitoring
KSS has installed, monitor, maintain and respond to over 40 community based CCTV cameras in Howick, Hilton, Howick West, Merrivale, Merrivale Heights and Merrivale Rural. There are more community CCTV cameras to follow as KSS continues to invest and give back to the community.

Incident summary (crime and other)
There were 12 incidents in Howick. There were 5 incidents in Merrivale. There were 3 incidents in Howick West. There were 2 incidents in Hilton. There was 1 incident in Howick South. There was 1 incident in Merrivale Heights. There was 1 incident in Merrivale Rural. There was 1 incident in Nottingham Road. There was 1 incident in the Karkloof. There was 1 incident in Boston.

KSS incidents 11 – 22 September 2021
11 September 2021 19:42 Valley View Road (Howick West) The KSS received a call from a client requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team and SAPS were dispatched. KSS Officers reported a case of domestic abuse. KSS handed the matter over to SAPS.

12 September 2021 10:00 Karkloof Road (Karkloof) The KSS Control Room were advised about a break-in to an unalarmed garage. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that 2 bicycles had been stolen. The garage door had been tampered with. The house was not alarmed due to there being construction workers on site. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

13 September 2021 04:00 Main Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that two windows had been broken. Nothing was stolen. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area. As per the client no need for SAPS.

13 September 2021 04:30 Main Road (Howick) Alert KSS Response Officers were patrolling and noticed that windows were broken at non-KSS monitored premises. KSS made contact with the owner who confirmed that there was no alarm on site. The suspects vandalised the property and copper pipes were stolen. SAPS were formally advised.

13 September 2021 08:13 Saligna Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room were advised about a break-in. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained by jumping the wall and then forcing a window open. As per the client no need for SAPS.

13 September 2021 12:18 Hayfields Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there had been a suspect on site but that he had fled when he saw the client. Access was gained by cutting the fence. Washing from the line was recovered. SAPS were formally advised.

13 September 2021 21:26 R617 Boston Bulwer Road (Howick South) The KSS Control Room were advised about suspects on site. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the suspects had fled. Nothing was stolen. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.

14 September 2021 08:45 Anderson Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client advising that an unalarmed outbuilding had been broken into. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained by jumping the wall and then the lock on the door had been cut. Items were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

14 September 2021 08:27 Elizabeth Drive (Hilton) The KSS Control Room were advised about a break-in. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the fence had been cut. Items were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

14 September 2021 16:32 Neptune Road (Howick West) The KSS Control Room were advised about a stolen bicycle that had been seen in the Howick South area. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that they had apprehended the suspect and recovered the bicycle along with a laptop and narcotics. KSS handed the suspect over to SAPS. A case was opened.

15 September 2021 00:47 Main Street (Nottingham Road) The KSS Control room received an alarm activation. Ballid Security were contacted who dispatched Response Teams. The Ballid Officers reported a positive break-in. Items were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened and a vehicle loaded onto the UCSI SNIPR system.

15 September 2021 10:13 Zeederberg Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room were advised about possible poachers in the area. KSS Response units were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the suspects had been apprehended. KSS handed the suspects over to SAPS.

15 September 2021 18:45 Saligna Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room were advised by a KSS Security Guard about suspects on the neighbouring premises. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained by jumping the wall. A drum was stolen. KSS did additional patrols in the area. As per the client no need for SAPS.

16 September 2021 01:33 Harvard Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room were advised about suspects on site. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained by jumping the fence. The suspects fled with a pair of old takkies. As per the client no need for SAPS.

16 September 2021 08:15 Symmonds Lane (Howick) The KSS Control Room were advised about a suspect on site. Clothing was stolen off the washing line. Access was gained by jumping the fence. As per the client no needs for SAPS.

17 September 2021 19:32 Birnamwood Road (Merrivale Heights) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance as her dogs were barking. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the suspect had been apprehended. SAPS were formally advised. KSS handed the suspect over to SAPS.

17 September 2021 18:17 Celtis Lane (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client advising that her laptop had been stolen. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there were no signs of forced entry. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

18 September 2021 14:11 Smith Lane (Hilton) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation. KSS Response units were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that medical assistance was required. An ambulance was dispatched. The client was stabilised and transported to hospital.

18 September 2021 15:42 Saligna Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that they had apprehended a suspect stealing scrap metal. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

18 September 2021 16:31 Market Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a member of the public advising that there was a suspicious person lying down in a garden. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that they had apprehended two suspects as they tried to flee. The suspects were is possession of stolen items. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

19 September 2021 16:36 Campbell Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there was a suspect on site who tried to flee. KSS Officers apprehended the suspect. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

19 September 2021 18:58 Doreen Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room were advised about a break-in to a non-KSS client. A KSS Response Team was dispatched to assist. The KSS Officers reported that a laptop had been stolen through an open window. The alarm was not armed. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

19 September 2021 21:07 Amber Avenue (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation. KSS Response units and an ambulance were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the client had collapsed. The client was treated by the medics accordingly.

20 September 2021 11:12 D292 (Merrivale Rural) The KSS Control Room was advised that a suspect had been apprehended on site for stealing avo’s. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

20 September 2021 12:00 R617 (Boston) The KSS Control Room were advised that a water pump had been stolen. A KSS Response team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the pump house was not alarmed. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

20 September 2021 12:13 Wear Avenue (Howick) The KSS Control Room were advised that a vehicle had been broken into. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the vehicle owner noticed the suspect sitting in the vehicle and shouted. The suspect fled in another vehicle. The UCSI were advised.

20 September 2021 20:01 Fraser Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client advising that her neighbour had been broken into. A KSS Response Team was dispatched to assist. The KSS Officers reported that entry to the house was gained by breaking the window. Items were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

22 September 2021 01:05 Hillbrow Road (Howick West) The KSS Control Room was advised about an intruder. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a vehicle battery had been stolen. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area. As per the client no need for SAPS.
