Incident Summary (crime and other)
There were 7 incidents in Howick West. There were 6 incidents in Howick. There were 5 incidents in the Merrivale area. There were 3 incidents in Hilton. There was 1 incident in Boston. There was 1 incident in Tweedie. There was 1 incident in Mpophomeni. There was 1 incident in Birnamwood.
KSS Incidents 11 – 21 November 2021
11 November 2021 12:18 Howick West bridge (Howick West) The KSS Control Room were advised that someone was vandalising something on the bridge. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that Eskom cables had been cut. SAPS and the Umngeni Municipality were formally advised. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.
11 November 2021 15:33 Divine Road (Howick West) The KSS Control Room were advised that plastic pipes (mistaken for copper pipes) had been stolen from the outside of the building. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there were no signs of forced entry. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.
11 November 2021 15:20 Andrew Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance as there was an intruder on site. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that they chased the suspect and apprehended him. SAPS were formally advised. KSS handed the suspect over to SAPS. A case was opened.
12 November 2021 06:51 Knoll Drive (Hilton) The KSS Control Room were advised about a break-in. KSS Response Teams, SAPS and other Security Companies were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that KSS, Red Alert and Magma assisted SAPS recover the stolen items. The incident was handed over to SAPS.
12 November 2021 10:08 Saligna Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room were advised about intruders. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained by cutting the fence. As per the client no need for SAPS and he would inform the Control Room if the suspects returned.
12 November 2021 11:09 Geekie Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room were advised about intruders on the property. The alarm had activated and the intruders fled. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the client confirmed that nothing had been stolen.
12 November 2021 15:00 UCSI (SNIPR incident - Hilton) The KSS Control Room received a SNIPR hit advising that a stolen vehicle had passed over the Umngeni Bridge. KSS Response Teams were dispatched and located the vehicle on route to Hilton. Hilton SAPS, Red Alert and Magma assisted with the apprehension of the 3 suspects and impounding the vehicle. The suspects were charged with three offenses and detained. Hilton SAPS extended a huge thank you to KSS for their assistance.
13 November 2021 14:00 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room were advised by a KSS Response Officers that member of the public had requested his help as her vehicle had not been returned by a staff member who was reportedly driving very irresponsibly. The vehicle was reported to SAPS and then loaded on the UCSI SNIPR system. It was picked up coming into Howick from the Karkloof. KSS Response Teams managed to apprehend the employee and called the lady. The matter was resolved. As per the lady no need further need for SAPS.
13 November 2021 23:51 Tweedie Road (Tweedie) The KSS Control Room were advised about stray cows on the Tweedie Road. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that they contacted the client and informed him. The fence had been cut and the gate was open. All the cows were returned and accounted for. As per the client no need for SAPS.
14 November 2021 01:15 D292 (Merrivale Rural) The KSS Control Room were advised by patrolling KSS Officers that they had noticed 2 suspects carrying sacks of tomatoes. The suspects dropped the sacks and fled. The sacks were recovered and returned to the farmer.
15 November 2021 03:19 Prospect Road (Howick West) The KSS Control Room received an out of hours opening. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officer reported that planks of wood were on fire but that the fire Department and the on-site Security Guard had assisted in containing the flames. There was no further damage reported.
15 November 2021 02:37 Bergview Road (Hilton) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported a fire on site. The KSS Officer managed to put the fire out. There was no further damage reported. The client was advised.
15 November 2021 10:00 Birnamwood Road (Birnamwood) The KSS Control Room were advised about an abandoned tanker on the road. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the tanker had been hijacked on the N3 near Hilton at 03:20 and then driven to Birnamwood where the suspects fled. The driver was unharmed. The matter was handed over to SAPS.
15 November 2021 11:19 Divine Road (Howick West) The KSS Control Room were advised about copper pipes that had been stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
17 November 2021 17:24 R617 (Boston) The KSS Control Room were advised about farm attack. Numerous authorities were dispatched including SAPS, K9 units, Midlands EMS and KSS Response Teams. The farmer was transported to hospital for treatment. KSS Officers reported that nothing had been stolen. KSS Security Guards were deployed to the farm to assist with securing the site.
18 November 2021 11:00 Thambo Road (Mpophomeni) The KSS Control Room were advised about a break-in to unalarmed premises. Three offices were broken into and numerous electronic items were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
19 November 2021 00:10 Exchange Lane (Howick) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a fence pole and fence had been knocked over. The client was advised and confirmed he would check and follow up in the morning.
19 November 2021 06:24 Acacia Road (Howick West) The KSS Control Room were advised that copper pipes had been stolen. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
19 November 2021 14:00 Shafton Road (Howick) Success Report: The KSS Control Room were advised that a suspect had been apprehended. KSS Response Teams, as well and SAPS and Magma were dispatched. The suspect confirmed that other stolen items were located in Shiyas settlement. KSS, SAPS and Magma went to Shiyas and recovered stolen items as well as drugs. In total 5 suspects were arrested and detained by SAPS.
19 November 2021 13:23 Gush Avenue (Howick) The KSS Control Room received multiple alarm activations. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained by breaking the bottom of the kitchen door. Electronic items were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
20 November 2021 19:59 Valley View Road (Howick West) The KSS Control Room were advised about a suspect on the property trying to steal copper pipes. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the suspect was apprehended and in possession of a knife. KSS Officers handed him over to SAPS. A case was opened.
20 November 2021 23:17 Cosmos Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that suspects had tried to force a gate open. No access was gained. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.
21 November 2021 10:42 Oakleigh Drive (Howick) The KSS Control Room were advised about copper pipes that had been stolen. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained through the fence. The client advised that he would like external beams installed and requested the KSS technical team to assist. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
21 November 2021 14:06 Geekie Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained by cutting the fence. A vehicle on site was tampered with but nothing was stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
21 November 2021 15:45 Riverview Road (Howick West) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation. A KSS Response unit was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a suspect had come into the shop and stolen items and fled. KSS patrolled the area. As per the client no need for SAPS.
