Incident Summary (crime and other) – 3 weeks
There were 11 incidents in Howick. There were 5 incidents in Merrivale. There were 2 incidents in Howick West. There was 1 incident in Hilton. There was 1 incident in Karkloof. There was 1 incident in Mount West. There was 1 incident in Elandskop. There was 1 incident in Midmar. There was 1 incident in Mpophomeni.
KSS Incidents 24 January – 15 February 2022
25 January 2022 19:00 Karkloof Road (Karkloof) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that diesel had been stolen. One suspect was apprehended. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
26 January 2022 06:21 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the palisade fence had been damaged and two strips of metals had been removed. The client reported to site and confirmed that no entry was gained into the premises. As per the client no need for SAPS.
27 January 2022 17:00 Zeederberg Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room were advised that copper pipes had been stolen from the back of a storeroom. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
31 January 2022 00:18 Laurel Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there had been a positive break-in. Access was gained by cutting the fence and then breaking the kitchen window. An electronic item was stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
31 January 2022 02:20 R617 (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call from Red Alert advising them of a positive break-in to a Red Alert client. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained by cutting the fence then forcing open the burglar gate a door. A laptop was stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
3 February 2022 22:00 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room were advised by a KSS Inspector that on-duty day shift KSS Security Guards had reported an attempted break-in. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers confirmed that ceiling boards had been damaged. Nothing was stolen. The client was advised accordingly.
3 February 2022 11:17 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that an elderly woman had had her bank card and SASSA card forcefully taken from her. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened. KSS Officers patrolled the area.
4 February 2022 07:29 Prospect Road (Howick West) A KSS Security Guard contacted the KSS Control Room requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that an employee had been apprehended for stealing. As per the client no need for SAPS.
5 February 2022 01:53 Somerset Place (Hilton) A KSS Security Guard advised the KSS Control Room that a vehicle had rolled and damaged a gate. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the driver was unharmed.
5 February 2022 19:49 Geekie Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there had been an altercation between tenants and that a firearm had been discharged. There were no serious injuries. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
6 February 2022 03:30 Exchange Lane (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation.
KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that suspects were trying to steal poles but fled when they saw the Guard. Access was gained by jumping over the fence. Nothing was damaged or stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS
6 February 2022 12:07 (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance as he had been involved in an accident. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. Both parties made their way to SAPS. The matter was resolved.
7 February 2022 02:38 Main Street (Howick) A patrolling KSS Response Officers reported a burst water pipe. The clients were advised and the matter was handed over.
9 February 2022 13.11 Nottingham Road (Mount West) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation. A Ballid Security Response Team was dispatched. The suspect fled the scene. Nothing was damaged or stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS.
9 February 2022 Dalton Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client advising that her gate had been tampered with. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that cables had been dug up. Nothing was stolen. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.
10 February 2022 10:25 D1215 (Elandskop) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officer reported that there had been a break-in. Access was gained by cutting a fence and using a sledgehammer to break down a wall. Numerous electronic items were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
10 February 2022 23:00 Dick Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that they met St Michaels Ambulance on site as the matter was a medical related concern. The patient was stabilised and transferred to hospital.
11 February 2022 14:45 Vear Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room were advised about a break-in. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained by jumping the wall and then breaking the padlock to the shed door. A brush cutter was stolen. The shed does not have an alarm. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
11 February 2022 14:00 R103 (Midmar) The KSS Control Room were advised about an incident. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. Medical personnel on scene confirmed that a male adult had drowned. SAPS were dispatched and the incident was handed over to SAPS. Our condolences to the family.
12 February 2022 14:47 Cosmo Road (Howick West) The KSS Control Room were alerted to a break-in in progress by a group of minors. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that SAPS and other security service providers were also in attendance. The incident was brought under control. KSS, SAPS and other security personnel conducted additional patrols in the area.
13 February 2022 03:59 Power Lane (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a Guard on site had noticed a door that had been forced open. Access was gained by lifting the fence. KSS Officers recovered some taps and fittings. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
14 February 2022 08:10 Ridge Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance for his neighbour. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that an intruder had snatched a handbag and fled. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.
14 February 2022 09:07 Rylands Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a suspect had tried to force a sliding door open. The suspect fled. Nothing was stolen. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.
15 February 2022 04:04 Nelson Mandela Road (Mpophomeni) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that on site Security Guards had spotted suspects trying to steal batteries from forklifts. The suspects fled when they realised, they had been seen. Access was gained by cutting the fence. Three batteries were recovered. SAPS were formally advised.
