Alarm and security advice
Please remember to set your alarms. Also ensure that all out-buildings, garages and storerooms are protected by an alarm. You can also link your gate to your house alarm. For all your alarm system installations and upgrades, CCTV cameras, gate alarms, biometrics, access control, guarding and other security advice, KSS are able to assist you.

Your home and business alarms
Please make sure that all parts of your personal and business alarm systems are working – including the outdoor beams and the panic buttons. It is your responsibility to test and ensure that your system is working.

Make sure your property is clearly numbered
Clear numbering will ensure that all Response and Emergency services are easily able to locate your property.

Electricity outages can compromise your security systems
Security alarm systems, access control, electric gates and electric fences are all dependent on electricity. Load shedding can however compromise the life of these security measures. Under normal circumstances, the back-up battery will power these systems for up to eight hours, BUT this time is dependent on a number of factors, such as: how many devices are linked to the battery, the age of the battery and how many load shedding events have happened during the past 24 hours. All these factors can severely affect the life-span of your back-up battery supply.

The KSS Control Room is manned 24/7 with highly competent staff that are trained to deal with emergency situations. Remember, you can call KSS not only for crime related issues, but also fire, medical, snakes, SAPS assistance etc… We are here to help. KSS Incidents 16 February – 16 March 2022
18 February 2022 07:50 Rosebank Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client advising that her gate motor had been damaged. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the gate battery had been stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

18 February 2022 10:43 Zeederberg Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that they apprehended a suspect stealing clothing. SAPS were formally advised. KSS handed the suspect over to SAPS. A case was opened.

18 February 2022 15:12 Valley View Road (Howick West) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the alarm LED light had been tampered with. There was no other damage. As per the client no need for SAPS.

18 February 2022 UCSI (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a UCSI camera activation about a hijacked vehicle. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that they located the vehicle, and the suspect was apprehended. The suspect was handed over to SAPS and the vehicle impounded.

19 February 2022 08:00 Hilton College Road (Hilton) The KSS Control Room were advised about a break-in. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a door had been broken and brush cutters stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

19 February 2022 06:58 Curries Post Road (Currie Post) The KSS Control Room received a called from Ballid Security advising about a break-in. Access was gained to one of the rooms using a crowbar. Items were stolen. SAPS were formally advised.

19 February 2022 09:56 Prospect Road (Howick West) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation from an on-site Security Guard. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a truck had knocked down a fence. The matter was resolved. No need for SAPS.

19 February 2022 19:15 R617 Boston Bulwer Road (Merrivale) The Ballid Control Room advised KSS about a break-in to one of their clients and requested KSS Armed Response. The KSS Officers reported that suspects had forced the door open and entered the premises. The suspect fled when they noticed the Security Guard. SAPS were formally advised. KSS Conducted additional patrols in the area.

20 February 2022 09:48 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a camera activation. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The suspect was apprehended, and the items recovered. As per the client no need for SAPS.

20 February 2022 16:00 Exchange Lane (Howick) The KSS Control Room were advised that items had been stolen from a truck parked on-site. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

20 February 2022 21:06 Laurel Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained by cutting the fence and breaking a window. Nothing was stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS.

22 February 2022 15:06 Sweetwaters Road (Hilton) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation.
A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained through the open driveway gate and suspects tried to steal a vehicle. SAPS and the UCSI were formally advised.

23 February 2022 08:20 Exchange Lane (Howick) The KSS Control Room were advised that there were suspects on site. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that one suspect had been apprehended. Nothing was stolen. SAPS were formally advised.

23 February 2022 11:27 Curries Post Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room were advised that a vehicle had been stolen. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the suspects’ vehicle had been identified and the UCSI was advised. The vehicles were loaded onto the SNIPR network. SAPS were formally advised.

26 February 2022 16:00 N3 (Cedara) The KSS Control Room were advised by SAPS that there were suspects walking along the N3 carrying bags of stolen produce. SAPS and KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that they had apprehended one suspect. KSS handed the incident over to SAPS.

27 February 2022 22:13 Tweedie Road (Tweedie) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation from an on-site Security Guard. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there had been suspects on site and the wall had been damaged. The suspects fled. Nothing was stolen. The client was advised.

27 February 2022 23:53 Bell Street (Howick) The KSS Control received a call from a client advising that a suspect had been apprehended. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the suspect was spotted climbing through the roof and the client had apprehended him. SAPS were formally advised. KSS handed the suspect over to SAPS. A case was opened.

1 March 2022 20:00 Prospect Road (Howick West) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation from an on-site Security Guard. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a truck had driven into the palisade fence. The client was advised and KSS handed the incident over to the parties involved.

2 March 2022 02:13 Ogilvie Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client advising that there were suspects on site. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained by jumping the fence. Items were stolen. SAPS were formally advised.

2 March 2022 10:00 Shafton Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from two clients requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that suspect had gained access by cutting the fence and breaking into an un-alarmed workshop as well as the neighbouring house. Numerous tools and electronic items were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. Cases were opened.

3 March 2022 02:42 Prospect Road (Howick West) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation from an on-site Security Guard. A KSS Inspector was dispatched. The Inspector reported that the fence had been damaged by a truck. The client was advised.

6 March 2022 Corner of Cosmos and Mimosa Road (Howick West) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the burglar guards and door had been damaged. Nothing was stolen. As per the client no needs for SAPS.

9 March 2022 08:17 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client advising that copper pipes had been stolen. SAPS were formally advised.

10 March 2022 04:04 Willow Lane (Hilton) The KSS Control Room were advised about a suspect on site. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained by jumping the fence. A radio was stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked outside the garage. SAPS were formally advised. KSS handed the incident over to SAPS. A case was opened.

10 March 2022 11:00 Edendale Road (Edendale) The KSS Control Room were advised about a positive beak-in. Suspects gained access by forcing the window open. Items were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

12 March 2022 13:33 R617 Boston/Bulwer Road (Howick South) The KSS Control Room were advised by an on-site Security Guard that there had been a break-in. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that items had been stolen. SAPS were formally advised.

13 March 2022 10:14 Oleander Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the fence at the back had been damaged. The client confirmed no access gained to the building and nothing stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS.

14 March 2022 04:43 Cosmo and Mimosa Roads (Howick West) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained by removing the burglar gate and forcing a door open. Items were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

14 March 2022 12:00 Laurel Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room were advised about a break-in. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained by cutting the fence, bending the burglar gate and forcing the door open. The alarm was not armed. Numerous electronic items were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

15 March 2022 14:00 R617 (Boston) The KSS Control Room were advised that cattle had been stolen. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that some of the stolen cattle had been recovered, but there were still some missing. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

16 March 2022 11:05 Wiese Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client advising that there had been a break-in. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained by breaking a door down. The alarm was not armed. Numerous electronic and household items were stolen.
