KSS and AET merger off the cards

Gary and the Team wish to inform all our clients that the merge of KSS to AET is no longer taking place.

Gary and the KSS Team will continue to ensure that the quality, communication and commitment to client safety as well as community safety and well-being maintains the high standards that they have aspired to over the past 33 years. Gary, Renee, Sashen and Pat, along with the rest of the KSS Administration, KSS Operations (Controllers, Armed Response, K9 and Guarding) and KSS Technical teams continue to deliver the service that we are all accustomed to. There will be no compromise on this!

Latest crime incidents
Please note the following are the items that have been targeted over the past month:
Gas bottles, copper pipes, brush cutters, laptops and electronic items. Most of these crimes are opportunistic and have been whilst the residents are at home.

KSS Officers have facilitated the apprehension of numerous criminals over the past month. This is due to vigilance and perseverance.

There were 25 incidents in Howick. There were 10 incidents in Merrivale. There were 3 incidents in Boston. There were 3 incidents in Karkloof. There were 2 incidents in Hilton. There was 1 incident in Mooi River. There was 1 incident in Mpophomeni. There was 1 incident in Tweedie. There was 1 incident in Tweedie. There was 1 incident in Cedara.

KSS Incident Report 5 October – 9 November 2022
5 October 2022 08:30 Vear Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room was advised about a positive break-in. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that outdoor furniture had been stolen. There were no signs of forced entry. SAPS were formally advised.

5 October 2022 09:06 Exchange Lane (Howick) The KSS Control Room was advised about a shoplifter. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that they had apprehended the suspect in town. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

6 October 2022 19:06 Claughton Terrace (Mooi River) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. Ballid Security was dispatched. The Ballid Officers reported that a door was open, and the workshop light was left on. Items were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

6 October 2022 21:05 Harvard Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client advising that a tamper alert from a truck had been received. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a battery had been stolen from the truck. The client was advised.

7 October 2022 11:15 Harvard Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that an intoxicated driver was causing a disturbance and had driven through a boom gate. KSS Officers apprehended the suspect in town. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

7 October 2022 12:32 Karkloof Road (Karkloof) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported a break-in. The front door had been forced open. Items were stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS.

10 October 2022 02:42 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from AET requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that suspects had gained access through the roof. One suspect was apprehended. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

10 October 2022 03:18 Northumberland Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there had been suspect on site, but they had fled. KSS Officers checked the premises. As per the client no need for SAPS.

10 October 2022 12:00 Dalton Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room was advised about an attempted break-in. Nothing was stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.

10 October 2022 12:01 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room was advised about a positive break-in to an unalarmed storeroom. The suspects forced the door open. Numerous items were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

11 October 2022 20:00 Karkloof Road (Karkloof) The KSS Control Room was advised about a positive break-in. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a window had been smashed with a brick. Items were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

11 October 2022 18:00 Rosebank Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room was advised about a break-in. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a laptop had been stolen through a broken window. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

11 October 2022 19:50 Fraser Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client advising that her neighbour had had a break-in. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a laptop had been stolen. There were no signs of forced entry. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

12 October 2022 00:01 Prospect Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from an on-site KSS Security Guard requesting assistance as he had apprehended a suspect stealing. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the stolen items had been recovered. As per the client no need for SAPS.

12 October 2022 16:59 Harvard Street (Howick) An observant KSS Response Officer reported to the KSS Control Room that he could see smoke coming from the roof. The client was advised, and the Fire Department dispatched. The fire was contained, and no serious damage was caused.

13 October 2022 00:15 Railway Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room was advised that there were suspects stealing cable from the railway station. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the suspects had fled. KSS, SSS, Magma, AET, Afri Guard and Howick SAPS continued to patrol the area. Four suspects were apprehended and handed over to SAPS. A case was opened.

13 October 2022 12:34 Somme Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a suspect had stolen some items, fled on foot and then got into a car waiting for her. No details of the vehicle were forthcoming. As per the client no need for SAPS. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.

13 October 2022 13:01 Symmonds Lane (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client advising that his neighbour had been broken into. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained by climbing over the fence. There were no signs of forced entry into the house and there was no alarm set. Numerous electronic items were stolen. SAPS was formally advised. A case was opened.

13 October 2022 19:59 Bell Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there had been a suspect on site tampering with a truck battery. The suspect fled. Nothing was stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.

14 October 2022 02:00 Karkloof Road (Karkloof) A patrolling KSS Dog Handler noticed suspects on site, gave chase and called for back-up. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that nothing was stolen or managed. The client was advised.

14 October 2022 11:03 Rotunda Road (Hilton) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that suspects had stolen fence poles. One suspect was apprehended. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

14 October 2022 23:26 Main Street (Howick) A patrolling KSS Response Officer noticed water spraying out of a pipe. A support KSS Response Team was dispatched, and the Municipality and client were advised. The water was switched off and the Municipality began repairs to the pipe and water meter.

15 October 2022 05:10 Tweedie Road (Tweedie) The KSS Control Room received a call from a KSS Security Officer requesting back-up as he had seen a poacher on site. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The suspect fled. One dog was captured and dropped off at the SPCA.

16 October 2022 17:44 Zeederberg Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a suspect had been apprehended for stealing. SAPS was formally advised. A case was opened.

16 October 2022 18:59 Collier Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room was advised about a noise in a local field. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a suspect had been apprehended and the stolen items recovered. As per the resident no need for SAPS.

16 October 2022 19:14 Vear Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room was advised that a suspect had entered the house and stolen electronic items. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers advised that the client was at home in another room at the time. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

17 October 2022 10:26 Berea Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room was advised about a break-in in progress. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained to an unalarmed section of the premises. Items were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

17 October 2022 16:00 D292 (Merrivale Rural) A patrolling KSS Officer reported that a client had advised him that scrap metal had been stolen from the site. The KSS Officers managed to locate the suspect at the scrap dealership. The client was advised. As per the client no need for SAPS.

18 October 2022 14:00 Old Main Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room was advised that a gate motor battery had been stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.

20 October 2022 00:15 R617 (Boston) The KSS Control Room was advised that a car had parked on the farm. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the driver had a puncture and had moved his car off the road for safety. SAPS were formally advised.

21 October 2022 07:20 Umgeni Avenue (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from the client advising that a gas bottle had been stolen. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the chain had been cut and the gas bottle removed. The alarm was not set. As per the client no need for SAPS.

22 October 2022 11:21 D617 (Boston) The KSS Control Room was advised about poachers on the farm. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The suspects fled. The client was pleased with the response time and assistance.

22 October 2022 11:05 Laurel Crescent (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that suspects had tried to gain access by crawling under the fence. The client was advised and requested additional patrols in the area.

22 October 2022 15:33 Muriel Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained through a hole in the wall. The suspect fled the scene. Items were stolen but KSS Officers managed to recover all the items. As per the client no need for SAPS.

22 October 2022 18:00 Symmonds Lane (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client advising that there had been a break-in. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a tablet had been stolen through a window that had been forced open. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

23 October 2022 19:15 Albany Grove (Howick) The KSS Control Room was advised that gas bottles had been stolen. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained by climbing over a gate. As per the client no need for SAPS. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.

24 October 2022 02:30 Harvard Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room were advised by a patrolling KSS response team that copper pipes had been stolen and water was spraying out. The client was advised and he came out to site and turned the water off. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.

30 October 2022 01:00 R617 (Mpophomeni) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a window had been broken and access was gained. As per the client no need for SAPS. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.

31 October 2022 06:00 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported an attempted break-in. The burglar bars were bent. Nothing was stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS.

31 October 2022 07:47 Campbell Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client advising that cable had been stolen during the course of the night. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained by jumping the back wall. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

1 November 2022 01:10 Hilton College Road (Hilton) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance as there were four suspects on site. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the suspects fled. Nothing was stolen. A KSS Security Guard was placed on site.

1 November 2022 14:00 Fraser Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room were advised that there was a suspect on-site who fled when he was noticed. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers responded and gave chase. The suspect was eventually apprehended. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

6 November 2022 01:00 Zeederberg Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room were advised by a KSS Inspector that a vehicle had driven into a truck. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

6 November 2022 10:00 D546 (Cedara) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported a positive break-in. Access was gained by cutting the fence and then forcing the burglar gate and door item. Items were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.

6 November 2022 10.30 P132 (Boston) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a ladder had been used to gain access through a window. Two brush cutters were stolen. SAPS were advised. A case was opened.

7 November 2022 20:28 Valley View Road (Howick West) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained through a security gate. A gas bottle was stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.

9 November 2022 17:32 Morling Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a window had been broken and copper piping had been stolen and water was running out. The client was advised. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.
