KSS Incident Report 15 - 28 February 2023

Dear KSS Clients

Please be aware that you need to be cautious while at home. Make sure that gates are locked, and you are conscious of your personal safety while at home. If you hear strange noises or the dogs are barking incessantly, please call your security service provider to check for you. They are trained and equipped to do this, and back-up is a call-away.

Incident summary (crime and other)
There were 6 incidents in Howick. There were 3 incidents in Merrivale. There were 2 incidents in Birnamwood. There was 1 incident in Cedara. There was 1 incident in Tweedie.

KSS Incidents 15 – 28 February 2023
15 February 2023 07:50 Paddock Crescent (Howick) The KSS Control Room was advised that there were 2 suspects on site. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the 2 suspects were apprehended and handed over to SAPS. An incident report was logged. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.

15 February 2023 15:30 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room was advised that the customer had had their wallet/bag stolen. The suspect fled. The customer went to the Police Station and reported the incident.

15 February 2023 21:23 Railway Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a massage advising that there were suspects on site. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that money had been stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

16 February 2023 08:14 D546 (Cedara) The KSS Control Room was advised about a break-in. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained by forcing doors open. Shoes were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

19 February 2023 18:02 Plane Crescent (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a fence activation. KSS Response Teams were dispatched, and the client confirmed that 2 suspects were trying to climb under the fence. The KSS Officers reported that the suspects fled when the client shouted at them. Nothing was stolen. SAPS were formally advised.

20 February 2023 18:00 Birnamwood Road (Birnamwood) The KSS Control Room was advised about a security breech. There were no alarm activations received. Access was gained by cutting the locks on the gates as well as the perimeter fence.

20 February 2023 20:10 Taylor Road (Merrivale) A client arrived at the KSS Offices to advise Control Room staff that while riding home on his bicycle he had been mugged at knife point by 2 males. His bicycle and bag containing cell phones, keys and a remote were stolen. KSS Response Officers assisted the client and drove him back home. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

21 February 2023 08:07 Birnamwood Road (Birnamwood) The KSS Control Room were advised that a fence in the area had been cut. Nothing was stolen.

22 February 2023 18:00 R103 (Tweedie) The KSS Control Room received a call from the client advising about a positive break-in. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the alarm was not armed. Electronic and gardening items were stolen. SAPS were formally advised.

25 February 2023 01:24 Anderson Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. The client advised that there were suspects on the property but that they had fled. As per the client no need for Armed Response or SAPS. KSS conducted additional patrols on the area.
25 February 2023 02:02 Exchange Lane (Howick) The KSS Control Room picked up a CCTV camera activation of a suspect jumping over the fence. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the suspect had fled, and stolen items were recovered. AS per the client no need for SAPS.

25 February 2023 16:50 Exchange Lane (Howick) The KSS Control Room was advised about an accident. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a vehicle had driven into the fence. No one was injured. SAPS was formally advised. KSS placed a Security Guard on site.

26 February 2023 08:57 Karkloof Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that suspects had tried to steal a truck but didn’t make it out the gate. The suspects fled. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
