Certificates of appreciation
KSS is proactive in recognizing our staff when the public sends through compliments. Please respond to our Newsletters if you feel that one of our staff is deserving of praise. We have had these two compliments over the past month:

“Howzit Gary, I hope you're well. I would like to pass on a note that the guy (name removed) currently working day shift here at (site name removed) is top class, many attributes that I could list for him being a great employee 👌”

“My apologies for taking so long to write this email. I wish to compliment your staff member (name removed). I had a break-in and numerous items were stolen. He then accompanied SAPS and recovered some of the stolen items and then at a later date recovered more stolen items. His investigation and active security work involved in this matter has been exemplary. I trust that he receives the appropriate recognition from within your company” (Shortened).

New uniforms
KSS Management are currently rolling out new unforms. This is a rather large operation and will take a few months to complete. You will see our maroon shirts being phased out and black or white shirts replacing them, depending on the security role within the business. The trademark KSS RED jackets and RED caps will remain, and a new RED belt has been brought in.

There were 15 incidents in Howick. There were 4 incidents in Merrivale. There was 1 incident in Hilton. There was 1 incident in Howick West. There was 1 incident in Birnamwood.

KSS Incidents 9 – 21 May 2023
9 May 2023 08:16 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that copper pipes had been stolen. Access was gained by crawling under the pedestrian gate. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

10 May 2023 07:05 Taylor Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room was advised about a man hopping over fences in the area. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the suspect tried to steal a lawn mower which was recovered. The suspect fled. SAPS were formally advised.

10 May 2023 11:00 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room was advised that a cell phone had been stolen. KSS assisted in recovering the phone.

12 May 2023 10:06 Prospect Road (Howick West) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a driver had damaged a pole. The incident was handed over to site management.

13 May 2023 02:35 Old Howick Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance as there was a suspect on the neighbours’ premises. A KSS Response team was dispatched to assist. The KSS Officers reported that nothing was stolen. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.

14 May 2023 01:37 Old Howick Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained through the kitchen window and cutting the burglar bars. Numerous items were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

14 May 2023 05:12 Harvard Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there had been a suspect on site, who fled when Response arrived. Nothing was stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS.

14 May 2023 Karkloof Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room was advised of a possible break-in. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a door handle had been broken. Nothing was stolen.

14 May 2023 11:19 Rooken Ridge (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that cables had been stolen. Access was gained by jumping over the fence. As per the client no need for SAPS. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.

15 May 2023 06:26 Hillbrow Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that copper pipes had been stolen. Access was gained by jumping over the wall. As per the client no need for SAPS.

15 May 2023 10:16 Rosebank Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that items had been stolen from the back of the property. Access was gained by jumping over the electric fence and palisade. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.

16 May 2023 19:21 Exchange Lane (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the Security Officer on-site had heard a noise and noticed a suspect underneath a truck. The suspect fled. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

16 May 2023 18:16 Saligna Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation. An on-site KSS Security Guard reported a fire. KSS Response Teams and the Fire Brigade were dispatched. The fire was extinguished.

17 May 2023 17:39 Devonshire Avenue (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client who advised that their fence had been cut. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a full site inspection was conducted an all was clear. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.

18 May 2023 19:53 Holiday Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that an intoxicated man was throwing stones at a window. SAPS were dispatched and the man was apprehended.

18 May 2023 06:42 (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a CCTV camera activation. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that 2 suspects had been apprehended. SAPS were formally advised. Due to lack of evidence the suspects were released.

18 May 2023 13:30 Hilton Avenue (Hilton) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance as he had apprehended a suspect stealing mielies. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. AS per the client no need for SAPS.

19 May 2023 00:26 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance as there were suspects on site. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a battery had been stolen. The external beams were not armed. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.

19 May 2023 07:02 Tumbleweed (Howick South) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that copper pipes had been stolen.

20 May 2023 08:00 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained by bending the bottom of the burglar gate to the shed. An item was stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

21 May 2023 01:04 Birnamwood Road (Birnamwood) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a resident in the area had been followed home by a suspicious vehicle and a possible kidnapping reported. The driver was apprehended and handed over to SAPS for further investigation. The man was later released due to lack of evidence.

21 May 2023 07:30 Wear Avenue (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that suspects had gained access by jumping the fence. Nothing was stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS. KSS were then advised that a suspect had returned. The KSS Officers managed to apprehend the suspect. SAPS were formally advised. The suspect was handed over to SAPS. The suspect was later found on a property in Braemar Crescent having been released and then tried to drink pool cleaner. SAPS and Ambulance services were dispatched. The man was attended to and transported to hospital.
