Dear KSS Clients

Security Tips
• Don’t provide cover for would be criminals (cut back foliage). Deter criminals from targeting your house by ensuring you cut back trees and bushes. Investigate installing movement sensor lights and report broken streetlights.

• Clear foliage away from your PIR beams. Excessive foliage and pot plants placed in front of external PIR beams will not only result in possible false alarms, but also render them useless in detecting criminal’s approaching your house. If you have invested in these external PIR beams, please ensure that they remain unobscured.

Keyholder information
Please update your residential and business key holder information regularly so that the KSS Control Room always has updated information, as well as accurate opening and closing times. Please call the KSS Control Room on 033 330 5911 and one of our controllers will assist you.

Technical advice
• Do you have an electric fence and would like it monitored so that early warning activations can be responded to? KSS can do this for you.

• Would you like CCTV cameras installed that also trigger an intruder alert? KSS can do this for you.

• Do you need a gate installation done or your current electric gate linked to your alarm system? KSS can do this for you.

There were 7 incidents in Howick. There were 2 incidents in Boston. There was 1 incident in Mathandubisi.

KSS Incidents 21 - 31 July 2023
22 July 2023 06:42 R617 (Boston) The KSS Control Room was advised about poachers with dogs. KSS Response Teams were dispatched to assist. The KSS Officers reported that 3 poachers with poaching dogs were apprehended. The men and dogs were handed over to SAPS.

22 July 2023 20:30 Dick Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client reporting a break-in. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained by jumping the fence and breaking a window. Items were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

23 July 2023 12:00 Mandela Road (Mathandubisi) The KSS Control Room received a call from SAPS requesting assistance with the arrest of a murder suspect. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that they assisted SAPS with crowd control and that the man was arrested and taken into custody by SAPS.

24 July 2023 07:27 Old Main Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client advising about a break-in. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained by derailing the gate. Items were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

24 July 2023 09:30 Andrew Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that items were stolen from an unalarmed garage. KSS Officers were given details of the suspect by a witness. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

25 July 2023 07:58 Rosebank Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. The client confirmed that all was in order, and they did not need assistance. Later that day the KSS Control Room received a call from the client advising that there had in fact a positive break-in, but they did not realize at the time. As per the client no need for Armed Response or SAPS.

27 July 2023 18:31 R617 (Boston) The KSS Control Room received a call from SAPS requesting assistance with possible cattle theft. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the matter was in hand and that SAPS just needed back-up.

29 July 2023 01:00 Exchange Lane (Howick) The KSS Control Room was advised about a vehicle that had driven into a fence. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the client and driver would resolve the matter. As per the client no need for SAPS.

31 July 2023 03:46 Rylands Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room were advised that a member of the public needed assistance as there was an intruder on-site. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a stolen item was recovered and handed over to SAPS.

31 July 2023 07:10 Main Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from the client reporting an incident. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that items were stolen on successive days. SAPS were formally advised.
