KSS Operations Staff have apprehended over 5 suspects in the past 2 weeks. Alert, observant and dedicated KSS staff are out there caring for our community, working alongside other role-players, protecting you and your property and making a positive difference. WHY? Because we care and we want a safer community because we love local.

Official Re-opening of the Amber Valley Gate
The re-opening of the main entrance gate at Amber Valley took place on Wednesday 30 August 2023 at 10h00. The new entrance has purpose designed access and egress for staff, contractors and residents. There is also a beautiful new guard house and on-site Control Room. KSS were instrumental in the design and implementation of the new entrance.

Meet the Team

Hot items in the past two weeks
Gas bottles, copper pipes, garden equipment, tools, electronic items, cash and cell phones.

Advice
Often windows are left open or ajar for pets to get in and out. This creates a weak point. Please always double check these weak points in your house and call KSS for advice.

Please also be aware and alert when home during the day and your alarm is not set. Brazen intruders are taking chances and breaking into residences at all hours, and on occasion coming face-to-face with the residents.

Always set your house alarms. KSS also advises that you install alarms in the out-buildings where you store valuable items. An alarm is a great early warning system and deterrent for intruders. Dogs are also a great deterrent – listen to them and let KSS come and check for you. Please don’t go outside and check for yourself.

KSS Incidents 17 – 31 August 2023
17 August 2023 07:16 Lawton Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room was advised about a break-in. A KSS Controller contacted the residents and was informed that a vehicle had been broken into. Access was gained by pushing the vehicle window down. Items were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

17 August 2023 23:20 Exchange Lane (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there had been an assault on two men in a tavern. The men were treated medically. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

18 August 2023 10:00 Hilton Avenue (Hilton) The KSS Control Room received a call requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a woman had been robbed of her shopping and personal possessions after accepting a lift from Ladysmith. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened. The vehicle details were loaded onto the UCSI SNIPR system.

18 August 2023 13:25 R617 (Boston) The KSS Control Room received a call requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a suspect had been seen on site. KSS Officers assisted the client search the area and one suspect was apprehended. The client advised that they would take over the matter.

18 August 2023 21:23 False Drive (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a CCTV camera activation. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there had been a suspect on site. Access was gained by jumping the fence. The suspect fled when he noticed the Armed Response arriving. Stolen items were recovered by KSS Officers.

19 August 2023 02:24 Cowan Road (Hilton) The KSS Control Room received a CCTV camera activation. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a suspect had fled the scene with a TV. Access was gained through the fence and then forcing a window open. SAPS and Hilton Rapid Response were advised. KSS Officers patrolled the area, and the suspect was apprehended by all involved. The suspect had changed his clothes but was positively identified and the TV recovered. A case was opened.

19 August 2023 06:03 Zeederberg Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that two suspects were seen in possession of stolen items. The suspects fled. The KSS Officers recovered the stolen items and returned them to the client.

19 August 2023 08:27 Dick Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that an unlocked vehicle had been broken into. Items were stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS.

19 August 2023 20:45 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room was advised by a patrolling KSS Response Team that water was gushing out from the premises. The KSS Officers checked and reported that the coper pipes had been cut and stolen. The client and SAPS were formally advised, and the water switched off. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.

19 August 2023 23:09 Rylands Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a suspect had gained access by jumping over the neighbours’ fence. Two chairs were stolen. As per the client no needs for SAPS.

20 August 2023 01:34 R617 (Merrivale Heights) The KSS Control Room received a call requesting assistance from an on-site KSS Security Guard. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there was fire in the transformer box. Eskom were advised and the fire was extinguished.

20 August 2023 09:56 Collier Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a shed had been broken into. Access was gained by jumping over the wall removing the windowpane of the shed. Stolen items were recovered. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.

20 August 2023 08:47 Saligna Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that they had apprehended a suspect, but he was not in possession of any stolen items. SAPS were formally advised but the suspect was released, and SAPS cancelled.

20 August 2023 17:15 Rylands Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there had been a suspect on site who had fled when the client shouted at him. Nothing was stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.

21 August 2023 01:01 Bell Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a CCTV camera activation of a suspect jumping over a gate. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that suspect fled when they arrived. Nothing was stolen. The client was advised.

21 August 2023 16:00 Market Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there had been an attempted break-in. The fence had been cut but no access was gained. Nothing was stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.

21 August 2023 18:22 Karkloof Road (Karkloof) The KSS Control Room received a call from an on-site KSS site supervisor advising that there had been a break-in. There were no signed of forced entry. Garden tools were stolen. SAPS were formally advised.

22 August 2023 13:31 Zeederberg Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a UCSI SNIPR activation that there was a stolen vehicle in the area. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The vehicle was recovered with the assistance of other local security companies. SAPS were formally advised. The vehicle was impounded by SAPS.

22 August 2023 15:00 Morling Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there had been a break-in. Access was gained by breaking the back door. Electrical cables were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

22 August 2023 14:32 Valleyview Road (Howick West) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that no access was gained to the house. An outside light was stolen. Suspects fled when the alarm activated. The client and SAPS were advised.

23 August 2023 06:00 Bell Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a suspect had stolen a gas bottle and then jumped over the fence and fled when he saw the client. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

23 August 2023 07:00 Berea Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a gas bottle had been stolen. There were no signs of forced entry. As per the client no need for SAPS. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.

23 August 2023 14:15 Moonwalk Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there had been a suspect on the property, but he had fled when the dogs disturbed him. Nothing was stolen. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.

23 August 2023 17:39 Rosebank Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there had been a positive break-in. Access was gained by cutting the top of the razor wire fence and then opening a window and forcing the burglar guards open. A gas bottle and electronic items were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

23 August 2023 17:55 Oakleigh Drive (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a cell phone that had been left outside in the courtyard was stolen. Access was gained by climbing over the wall. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

23 August 2023 20:15 Rylands Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room was advised about an attempted break-in. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained by jumping over the wall. The suspect was disturbed by the resident and fled. Nothing was stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS.

23 August 2023 20:44 Oakleigh Drive (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a CCTV camera activation. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the suspect fled with two chairs, which he dropped. KSS Officers recovered the chairs and returned them to the client. As per the client no need for SAPS. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.

24 August 2023 03:25 Moonwalk Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a TV had been stolen. The client was at home but unharmed. Access was gained by jumping over the wall but there was no forced entry to the house. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

24 August 2023 14:19 Market Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there had been a suspect on site. Some items were stolen off the back verandah. As per the client no need for SAPS.

25 August 2023 03:26 Main Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that they had apprehended the suspect in possession of numerous stolen items. The items were recovered. The suspect was handed over to SAPS. A case was opened.

25 August 2023 11:00 Athlone Avenue (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there had been a break-in to the garage of an unoccupied house. Nothing was stolen. The relevant agents were advised.

25 August 2023 09:57 Harvard Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there had been an armed robbery and cash, cell phones and the owner’s vehicle were stolen. The vehicle used by the suspects was identified and loaded onto the UCSI SNIPR system. The owner’s vehicle was located abandoned in Main Street. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

25 August 2023 18:16 Harvard Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a KSS Inspector requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that an on-site Security Officer had apprehended a suspect for stealing a handbag. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

26 August 2023 07:29 Birnamwood Road (Birnamwood) The KSS Control Room received a call from the client requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that an unalarmed workshop had been broken into. Access was gained by removing the windowpane and using bolt cutters to cut the burglar bars. Garden equipment and tools were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

26 August 2023 11:20 Devonshire Avenue (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there had been a positive break-in. The alarm was not set. Access was gained through an open window. Numerous electronic items were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

27 August 2023 01:50 Harvard Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation from a KSS Security Guard. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the suspect fled when the panic alarm activated. Nothing was stolen. The client was advised.

27 August 2023 12:51 Harvard Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a local store who is not a KSS client, requesting assistance from KSS. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that suspects had gained access to premises the night before. They required a KSS Security Guard. Access was gained by cutting through the roof. Cell phones and cash was stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

28 August 2023 01:33 Sunningdale Avenue (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there had been a suspect on site. A braai stand was stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.

29 August 2023 08:16 Market Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there had been a suspect on site. The suspect fled. Nothing was stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.

30 August 2023 09:00 R617 (Mpophomeni) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client advising that a TLB had been stolen and staff member was missing. The staff member eventually contacted the client advising that he had been taken by the suspects and was robbed of all his belongings and dropped off in New Hanover. He had made his way back to Pietermaritzburg and gone to SAPS who assisted him. SAPS assisted getting him back to Mpophomeni and a case was opened.

30 August 2023 10:00 Birnamwood Road (Birnamwood) The KSS Control Room was advised about a break-in. Access was gained through the front sliding doors. A geyser and copper pipes were stolen.

31 August 2023 14:39 Wirth Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the resident had gone outside to check the washing and when she came back inside there was an intruder armed with a knife. The resident was locked in the bedroom. A cell phone and money were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
