Hilton SAPS Domestic Indaba
The Hilton SAPS held their Domestic Indaba’s the on 8th and 13th October 2023. The focus of these Indaba’s was on Domestic Violence, Drug and Alcohol Abuse, Community Safety and Elderly Care. KSS salutes Hilton SAPS for being proactive and ensuring that all community members are cared for and equipped with safety and security knowledge.

KSS Incidents 1 – 15 October 2023
1 October 2023 07:56 Loram Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a bicycle had been found in the front garden by a client that did not belong to him. The KSS Control Room was able to establish who the bicycle belonged to, and the bicycle was correctly identified and returned to the owner.

2 October 2023 11:28 Geekie Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control was alerted to a positive break-in. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained by crawling under the fence. Numerous items were stolen. KSS Officers patrolled the area and 1 suspect was apprehended and some stolen items were recovered. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

4 October 2023 02:35 Doreen Clarke Nature Reserve (Hilton) The KSS Control Room received a call from the Winterskloof Tactical Surveillance Unit requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that items had been stolen from Walters Road (Hilton). Numerous items were recovered but the suspects managed to flee. SAPS were formally advised.

4 October 2023 16:43 Upfold Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting patrols as they had had a hosepipe stolen the night before. KSS Response Teams conducted additional patrols in the area.

4 October 2023 17:34 Alpine Road (Howick West) The KSS Control Room was advised about a positive break-in. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that roof sheeting had been stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

4 October 2023 20:12 Ridge Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there had been suspects on site. Access was gained by jumping over the fence, breaking the cottage window and bending the burglar guards. Items were stolen. The alarm was not set. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

5 October 2023 10:06 Market Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that copper pipes had been stolen from the air conditioning unit. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

5 October 2023 11:21 Harvard House (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that copper pipes had been stolen from the air conditioning unit. Access was gained by jumping over the wall. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

5 October 2023 14:22 Dick Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the air conditioning unit had been stolen. SAPS were formally advised.

6 October 2023 02:00 Orient Park (Howick West) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained by cutting the fence and one of the garage roller doors forced open, and a CCTV camera tampered with. The client was not sure if items had been stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

8 October 2023 20:52 Main Street (Howick) An alert KSS Response Team was checking on sites and noticed running water. The KSS Officers advised the Control Room who in turn contacted the client. Copper pipes had been stolen and the client came out and managed to turn the water off and fix the problem. As per the client no need for SAPS.

8 October 2023 14:55 Saligna Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a CCTV camera activation. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained by jumping over the wall. The suspect tried to pull the plastic pipes off the wall but could not remove them. Nothing was stolen.

9 October 2023 04:59 Saligna Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a CCTV camera activation. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that copper pipes had been stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS.

9 October 2023 14:22 Old Main Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance as the tenant was on site threatening them. SAPS were formally advised. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area for the night.

9 October 2023 14:53 Harvard Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from the client requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that items had been stolen and the suspect had been apprehended. SAPS were formally advised. The suspect was handed over to SAPS. A case was opened.

9 October 2023 15:37 Old Main Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from the client advising that a staff member had been robbed outside the premises. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that 3 suspects had robbed the lady of her cell phones and fled. KSS Officers patrolled and searched the area but to no avail. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

10 October 2023 21:33 Harvard Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the air conditioning unit had been stripped of the copper pipes. The client was advised.

10 October 2023 10:00 Dick Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that suspects had stolen a geyser, copper pies and taps. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

10 October 2023 11:33 Old Min Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that suspects had stolen a geyser and copper pipes. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

11 October 2023 06:39 Edgar Isaacs Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room was advised about a break-in. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the alarm was not set. Access was gained by jumping over the fence. A gas cylinder was stolen off the verandah. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

12 October 2023 05:27 Old Main Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that copper pipes had been stolen. The client was advised.

12 October 2023 18:30 Oakleigh Drive (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a CCTV camera activation showing two suspects on site. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the suspects fled. Nothing was stolen. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.

13 October 2023 07:25 Edgar Isaacs Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client advising about a break-in. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained through the fence and the wendy house was broken into. Numerous items were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

14 October 2023 05:10 Old Main Road (Howick) KSS Operations Officers set up an intelligence operation and waited for the suspect to break into the property. The suspect gained access through the back fence and tried to break into the premises. KSS Officers apprehended him. The suspect was handed over to SAPS. A case was opened.

14 October 2023 19:30 Main Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation and a client also called in to advise that suspect was throwing bricks at the premises. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that 5 windows had been broken. No access was gained. Nothing was stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.

15 October 2023 01:15 Main Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from National Security requesting assistance for an alarm activation. A KSS Response Team responded for them. The KSS Officers reported that the air conditioning unit had been damaged and was lying on the floor. The client was advised. Nothing was stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS.
