KSS Incidents 1 – 17 January 2024
1 January 2024 00:13 Tweedie Road (Tweedie) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that the fence had been cut. Suspects tried to gain entry by forcing the front and back doors open. No entry was gained. Nothing was stolen. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.

1 January 2024 01:32 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a CCTV camera activation. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that one suspect had fled. A full check of the site was conducted. Nothing was stolen. The client was advised.

1 January 2024 02:24 Tweedie Road (Tweedie) The KSS Control Room was advised by a KSS Response Officer that while on patrol he had noticed that the fence had been cut. Nothing was stolen. The client was advised.

1 January 2024 23:54 Bell Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a suspect had been identified on the CCTV camera system. Access was gained by breaking a window. Items were stolen. KSS Officers managed to apprehend the suspect and the stolen items were recovered. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

2 January 2024 10:17 Valley View Road (Howick West) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that a vehicle had been broken into and a battery stolen. Access was gained by jumping the gate. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

3 January 2024 03:40 Lakeview Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that there had been a suspect on site. The dining room window was broken. A laptop was stolen, but when the suspect fled the laptop was dropped and recovered. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.

3 January 2024 03:33 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from an on-site KSS Security Guard requesting assistance as he noticed a suspect on site and had given chase. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a vehicle had been stolen. Access was gained through an unlocked gate. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

3 January 2024 08:31 Geekie Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there had been a suspect on site as they could see footprints. Nothing was stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS.

4 January 2024 09:30 Harvard Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room was advised by a KSS Security Guard that he needed assistance on site. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a suspect had stolen numerous items. KSS Officers gave chase and suspect was apprehended. KSS Officers handed the suspect over the SAPS. A case was opened.

5 January 2024 06:50 Oleander Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that two external lights had been stolen from the site during loadshedding. The client was advised. As per the client no need for SAPS.

6 January 2024 04:00 Exchange Lane (Howick) The KSS Control Room was advised by an on-site KSS Security Officer that a vehicle had driven into the fence. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The client was advised that the fence had been damaged and the driver details were forwarded to him. As per the client no need for SAPS.

8 January 2024 08:08 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that a sail covering a vehicle had been stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS.

9 January 2024 09:11 Exchange Lane (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a suspect was seen shoplifting but fled. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.

10 January 2024 10:55 Lotus Road (Howick West) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that a laptop and toolbox had been stolen. A description of the suspects was given to the KSS Officers who patrolled the Howick CBD area. The suspects were identified and apprehended. KSS Officers handed the suspect over to SAPS. A case was opened.

10 January 2024 10:53 Birnamwood Road (Merrivale Heights) The KSS Control Room was advised about poachers on site. KSS Response Teams and SAPS were dispatched. The poachers were apprehended. KSS Officers handed the poachers over to SAPS. A case was opened.

11 January 2024 23:53 Tweedie Road (Tweedie) The KSS Control Room received a CCTV camera activation. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained by breaking a precast wall, forcing open a sliding door, cutting the locks on the kitchen gate and kicking down the door. The suspects fled. A microwave was stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened. KSS placed a Security Guard on site.

11 January 2024 10:53 Zeederberg Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that the client had had an incident with a new tenant as well as intruders, but that they had fled. As per the client no need for SAPS but he wanted to make KSS aware.

12 January 2024 08:04 Dick Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that 2 solar lights had been stolen. Access was gained by jumping the gate. The client advised they would go to SAPS and open a case.

12 January 2024 11:48 Market Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a door to the garage had been forced open. The client could not confirm if anything had been stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.

12 January 2024 12:50 R617 Boston Bulwer Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call from an on-site KSS Security Guard advising that there were suspects on site. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a door had been broken. Nothing was stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS.

12 January 2024 12:38 Birnamwood Road (Merrivale Heights) The KSS Control Room received a report that a fence had been cut. KSS made contact with the client and the client confirmed that bikers were using it as an exit point, and he would deal with the matter. No further damages were reported. Nothing was stolen.

13 January 2024 02:05 Exchange Lane (Howick) A patrolling KSS Response Team noticed a suspect walking down the road carrying a battery and other stolen items. The suspect fled and dropped the stolen items. KSS Officers managed to establish that a vehicle had been broken into and tracked down the owner. KSS Officers stayed with the vehicle until the owner could arrive on scene. KSS handed the incident and stolen items over to the owner.

13 January 2024 05:25 R617 Boston Bulwer Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call from an on-site KSS Security Guard advising that there was a broken door. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that suspects had been on site but fled. KSS posted a K9 Security Officer and dog on site. The client was advised.

14 January 2024 08:23 Buchanan Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from the client requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a stable door had been forced open. The suspects were disturbed and fled. Nothing was stolen. SAPS were formally advised.

14 January 2024 21:53 R617 (Boston) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that two cows had been stolen. One cow was slaughtered. The second cow was recovered. KSS Officers remained with the live cow until they could return it safely to the client in the morning. SAPS were advised. A case was opened.

15 January 2024 08:31 Geekie Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that access was gained by jumping a fence. A canvas was stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS.

17 January 2024 15:13 Tweedie Road (Tweedie) The KSS Control Room received a call from an on-site KSS Security Guard requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there was extensive storm damage, and the electric fence was compromised. The client was advised. An additional KSS Security Guard was placed on site.
