PSIRA self-study training at Key Training Academy
KSS has a training academy where anyone aspiring to go into the security sector can do their accredited PSIRA training. Key Training Academy is based at the KSS offices and self-study Grade E, Grade D, Grade C and Grade B courses are offered. On-site support is available at the KSS offices and tests are also written at the KSS Offices.

KSS Incidents 2 – 17 May 2024
4 May 2024 15:00 D795 (Merrivale Rural) A client came in to the KSS Offices to report a break-in. A drill, padlocks and copper wires were stolen when the client popped out to do some errands. No alarm was set. SAPS were formally advised.

5 May 2024 04:11 Hilton College Road (Hilton) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a vehicle had rolled into the gate. The client was advised, and the matter was resolved.

5 May 2024 14:18 R617 Boston Bulwer Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received an iTalk panic activation from an on-site KSS Security Guard reporting a fire. A KSS Response Team and the Fire Department were dispatched. A controlled fire had spread into a cops of nearby trees. The fire was extinguished.

5 May 2024 08:20 Laurel Crescent (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call from the client requesting assistance as he had seen a suspect. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there were no signs of forced entry. The suspect had fled. Nothing was stolen or tampered with. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.

5 May 2024 13:29 Fort Nottingham Road (Fort Nottingham) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. Ballid Security were dispatched. The Ballid Response Officers reported that two windows had been broken. Nothing was stolen. The client was advised. Ballid conducted additional patrols.

7 May 2024 01:05 R617 Boston Bulwer Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call from Ballid Security requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that an on-site Ballid Security Guard had seen two suspects fleeing the site. Access was gained by bending the palisade fence. Truck batteries were stolen. The client and SAPS were formally advised.

7 May 2024 01:44 Saligna Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the client spotted two suspects jumping over the wall. Nothing was stolen. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.

8 May 2024 04:00 (Merrivale Heights) The KSS Control Room received a CCTV camera activation showing three suspects in the area. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers patrolled the area and spotted the suspects. One suspect was apprehended. SAPS were advised.

8 May 2024 01:55 Saligna Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that copper pipes had been stolen and water was leaking. The client was advised. KSS Officers assisted in resolving the issue.

10 May 2024 19:00 Shafton Road (Karkloof) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client advising that there had been an attempted break-in. A door had been tampered with. Nothing was stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.

13 May 2024 09:40 Saligna Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that copper welding tips had been stolen. The suspect was identified and apprehended. The stolen items were recovered. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

16 May 2024 09:39 Harvard Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that chairs were stolen. Access was gained by jumping over the fence. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

16 May 2024 08:19 Ridge Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call requesting assistance as other security companies were in pursuit of a suspect. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the suspect was seen inside a property. The suspect was apprehended by Security Officers. SAPS were formally advised. The suspect was handed over to SAPS.

16 May 2024 10:27 Divine Road (Howick West) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a disciplinary matter had escalated. The matter was reported to SAPS. A case was opened.

16 May 2024 12:12 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room was advised about a positive break-in. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that items had been stolen. The suspects fled. Patrols in the area resulted in one of the suspects being apprehended. The stolen goods were recovered. SAPS were formally advised. The suspect was handed over to SAPS. A case was opened.
