KSS Incidents 18 – 31 May 2024
20 May 2024 10:00 Karkloof Road (Karkloof) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. The client advised that the unalarmed garage had been broken into. Items were stolen. The client requested an alarm be installed in the garage. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
20 May 2024 15:00 Gush Avenue (Howick) The KSS Control Room was advised about a break-in to an unalarmed property. The resident requested assistance and then a KSS technician to come and assist with an alarm installation and linking it up to the KSS Control Room. Electronic items were stolen. SAPS were formally advised.
21 May 2024 15:00 Macleroy Road (Merrivale Heights) The KSS Control Room received a call from the client requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that suspects had broken into a safe and stolen money. The suspects were known to the owner as they worked for him. The suspects fled the area. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
22 May 2024 14:08 UCSI SNIPR Activation (Howick West) The KSS Control Room received a UCSI SNIPR activation for a stolen vehicle with a GP registration passing through Howick West. KSS Response Teams, SAPS and other local security companies were advised. The vehicle was stopped in Howick by KSS Officers, and the driver apprehended. The vehicle was impounded, and the driver handed over to Howick SAPS for further investigation. It was established that the vehicle had been involved in numerous truck and vehicle hi-jacking’s in Gauteng. Howick SAPS escorted the vehicle and suspect back to Johannesburg and handed him over to SAPS in Gauteng for further processing. Great teamwork from all involved and another success for the Umngeni Community Safety Initiative (UCSI).
24 May 2024 09:25 Birnamwood Road (Birnamwood) The KSS Control Room was advised about a break-in. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there were no signs of forced entry into the workshop. Numerous tools and garden items were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
25 May 2024 03:19 Zeederberg Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a metal gate was missing. The client was advised.
25 May 2024 12:45 Harvard Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a message requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that staff on site had apprehended a suspect for shoplifting. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
26 May 2024 21:24 R617 (Boston) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client advising that an intruder had been apprehended by the on-site KSS Security Guard. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that SAPS arrived and took over the incident.
27 May 2024 16:37 Birnamwood Road (Birnamwood) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the fence had been cut. Nothing was stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.
29 May 2024 11:50 Mare Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that two suspects had entered the premises. One suspect distracted the client, and the other suspect stole her cell phone. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
29 May 2024 17:33 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from the client requesting assistance as a suspect had been apprehended. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the suspect was in possession of stolen items. KSS Officers handed the suspect over to SAPS. A case was opened.
31 May 2024 13:26 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room was advised that there was a suspect on site. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The suspect was apprehended. SAPS were formally advised. The suspect was handed over to SAPS.
1 June 2024 07:53 Laurel Crescent (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained by jumping the fence. One suspect managed to flee but the second suspect was apprehended. The stolen motors were recovered. As per the client no need for SAPS.
