Apprehensions of criminals
KSS Officers have apprehended numerous criminals over the past fortnight. KSS commends the KSS Security Guards and KSS Response Teams for the vigilance and care that they have for the roles they play within our community. Thanks, is also paid to the KSS Controllers, who facilitate and manage the information and responses to our clients and the communities’ activations and calls for assistance.

KSS Incidents 20 November – 5 December 2024
20 November 2024 08:07 Hilton Avenue (Hilton) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams and SAPS were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that cables had been stolen from the electricity box. A case was opened.
21 November 2024 04:30 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that copper wires had been stolen. Access was gained by jumping over the wall. The suspect was apprehended. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
21 November 2024 07:50 Hilton Avenue (Hilton) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams and SAPS were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that access was gained through an unsecured window. A cash box was stolen. A case was opened.
22 November 2024 08:37 Zeederberg Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance as there had been a break-in. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a window had been broken in order to gain access. The burglar bars were left unsecured, so access was easy. Meat was stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
23 November 2024 22:34 Baron Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance as there was an intruder on site. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that copper pipes had been tampered with. SAPS were formally advised.
24 November 2024 10:50 Harvard Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from an on-site KSS Security Officer who reported that they had apprehended a suspect stealing. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the suspect was handed over to SAPS. A case was opened.
26 November 2024 09:01 Karkloof Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client advising that they were having an issue with an employee on site. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers resolved the dispute. As per the client no need for SAPS.
26 November 2024 13:00 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a UCSI SNIPR activation for a vehicle that had been involved in crime. KSS Response Teams were dispatched and located the vehicle. The driver and vehicle were escorted to SAPS for further questioning. KSS handed the matter over to SAPS.
29 November 2024 10:50 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room was advised about a vehicle theft in Howick CBD. SAPS were formally advised. The vehicle was loaded onto the UCSI SNIPR system. The matter was handed over to SAPS for further investigation.
1 December 2024 04:36 Falls Drive (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from an on-site KSS Security Officer requesting assistance as he had apprehended an intruder who had jumped over an electric fence. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the man was inebriated and was running away another man who had threatened him. Nothing was stolen and no damages were reported. As per the client no need for SAPS.
1 December 2024 13:40 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from an on-site KSS Security Officer stating that he had apprehended a suspect for shoplifting. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The stolen item was recovered. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
2 December 2024 06:57 Winterwood Lane (Merrivale Heights) The KSS Control Room was advised about a vehicle break-in. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that access was gained by jumping the fence and then breaking the back window. Items were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
3 December 2024 11:15 Harvard Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from an on-site Security Guard that a suspect had been apprehended for shoplifting. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
3 December 2024 17:39 Shafton Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client advising that an intruder had stolen copper pipes. Access was gained by jumping over the fence. SAPS were formally advised. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.
4 December 2024 07:25 Polo Avenue (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from the client advising that there had been a break-in. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the external CCTV cameras were covered, and then copper pipes stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS.
4 December 2024 06:57 Zeederberg Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client advising about a break-in. Scrap metal items lying around were stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS.
4 December 2024 1:30 Harvard Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room was advised that a vehicle had been broken into in a public space. KSS response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that an item had been stolen. SAPS were formally advised. KSS handed the matter over to SAPS. A case was opened.
5 December 2024 10:31 Harvard Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from the on-site KSS Security Guard advising that a shoplifter had been apprehended. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. SAPS were formally advised. The suspect was handed over to SAPS. A case was opened.
