We’ve seen an increase in break-ins targeting local businesses with hot items being electrical tools.

Quick Safety Tips:

- Ensure alarms and beams are activated after hours
- Keep entrances well lit.
- Lock up valuables and stock securely.
- Make sure you have adequate outdoor protection including outdoor beams and CCTV cameras.

KSS Incidents 15 - 31 December 2025
14 December 2025 21:33 Fraser Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a message reporting a juvenile fence hopper on site. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. KSS Officers reported that the juvenile was looking for a place to sleep. KSS handed the situation over to SAPS.

15 December 2025 03:10 D292 (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client reporting that a fence had been cut. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. KSS Officers met with the client on site. KSS Officers reported that the perimeter fence was cut. A full farm check was conducted. Nothing was stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS

15 December 2025 18:12 Shafton Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client reporting an attempted break-in. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that the suspects had cut the wire fence and attempted to steal wire mesh but were disturbed by the client. As per the client no need for SAPS.

17 December 2025 01:22 Karkloof Road (Karkloof) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting Armed Response as one of the cottages had a break-in. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that the door was left open for air while guests were on the other side of the building. Numerous items were stolen. KSS handed the situation over to SAPS.

17 December 2025 07:15 Oleander Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client reporting a positive break-in. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that the suspect gained access by bending the burglar bars. Copper pipes had been stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS.

17 December 2025 13:19 Quarry Road (Hilton) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client reporting a positive break-in. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers met with client on site. Access was gained through an open window. Numerous items were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.

17 December 2025 08:36 Laurel Crescent (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client reporting a positive break-in. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the suspect had stolen Power Tools from the container. The suspect gained access by cutting a hole in the fence. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area. A case was opened.

18 December 2025 02:37 D292 (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client reporting a fence had been cut. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. KSS Officers conducted internal and external checks. Nothing was stolen. KSS conducted extra patrols in the area.

18 December 2025 03:29 Valley View Road (Howick West) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. KSS Officers met on site with the client who reported the garage door had been tampered with. KSS Officers conducted an all-round check. Nothing was stolen. A case was opened.

18 December 2025 13:57 Oleander Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting Armed Response. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that the suspect who had broken in previously was apprehended. As per the client no need for SAPS.

19 December 2025 09:00 Zeederberg Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client reporting a positive break-in. The suspect cut roof sheeting and entered through the ceiling. As per the client no need for Armed Response or SAPS.

20 December 2025 13:30 Zeederberg Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that on arrival they met with on-site staff who reported a staff member was caught in possession of stolen items. KSS handed the situation over to SAPS. A case was opened.

20 December 2025 17:03 Zeederberg Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a client requesting urgent assistance. KSS Response Teams and SAPS were dispatched. KSS Officers reported a member of public had been scammed by two women and a man who claimed to work for a known retail shopping company and offer victims loyalty cards and take their money. As per the complainant to cancel SAPS.

24 December 2025 02:34 Bell Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client reporting a positive break-in. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers met with client on site. The client reported that a suspect had tampered with the burglar guard locks using a screwdriver. KSS Officers located the suspect in Somme Street. The suspect was found with the screwdriver and admitted to tampering but had stolen nothing. As per the client no need for SAPS.

24 December 2025 08:33 D292 (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client reporting a positive break-in. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that the suspect had gained entry into an unarmed room. As per the client no need for SAPS.

24 December 2025 10:37 Buchanan Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client reporting a positive break-in. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported a gas bottle had been stolen. Saps were formally advised. A case was opened.

24 December 2025 15:19 Harvard Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from an on-site KSS Security Guard. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that two boys had their phones stolen by an elderly man after he had requested assistance from them. The man had given the boys his ID as an insurance. KSS Officers advised the boys to go to SAPS. A case was opened with SAPS.

25 December 2025 08:31 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. KSS Response Officer reported that there were suspects’ onsite and requested additional back up. One suspect was apprehended with numerous items. KSS conducted a search and the second suspect was apprehended. Suspects used a metal rebar and a garden fork to break open locks on the gate as well as the locker. SAPS were formally advised. KSS handed the suspect over to SAPS. A case was opened.

29 December 2025 07:53 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client reporting they had found ceiling boards loose on-site. KSS Response Teams and SAPS were dispatched. KSS Officers conducted a search and there was no signs of the suspect or tampering. KSS handed the situation over to SAPS.

29 December 2025 22:57 Birnamwood Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client reporting a suspect on-site. KSS Response Teams and SAPS were dispatched. KSS Officers conducted a search and there was no signs of the suspect or tampering. KSS handed the situation over to SAPS.

30 December 2025 01:52 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. KSS Response Teams and SAPS were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that the suspect had cut the chain to the garage section and broke the lock off to the tool shed. A number of items were stolen. A case was opened with SAPS.
