May has been an exceptionally busy month for crime-related incidents in our area, keeping our teams on high alert and actively responding to a wide range of situations.
We would like to remind the community of the importance of opening a case with SAPS when you become a victim of crime. Every reported case assists with investigations, helps identify crime trends in the area, contributes towards building stronger cases against offenders and contributes towards ensuring adequate resources are allocated where they are needed most.

KSS Incidents 1 – 28 May 2026
1 May 2026 02:45 Geekie Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that copper pipes had been stolen from the back of the property. The suspect had gained access by jumping over the wall and had switched the outside water meter off. As per the client no need for SAPS. KSS conducted extra patrols in the area.
1 May 2026 11:44 Mathandubisi (Howick) The KSS Control Room was advised by KSS Operations Manager of a robbery involving one of our client’s after they had run out of fuel on the N3. KSS Officers were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that suspects had stolen numerous items including a cellphone. KSS Response Teams traced the stolen items to a house in Mathandubisi some of the stolen items were recovered. KSS Officers reported they had received information on the whereabouts of the cellphone. KSS Response Teams managed to recover the stolen cellphone.
1 May 2026 18:36 Curry’s Post Road (Curry’s Post) The KSS Control Room received a call reporting that a vehicle had crashed into a perimeter fence. KSS Response Teams and Emergency Services were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that the driver had fled the scene, leaving the passenger behind. The driver could not be located. KSS Officers handed the matter over to SAPS. A KSS Security Officer was placed on-site.
2 May 2026 01:28 Symmonds Lane (Howick) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. KSS Response Teams and SAPS were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that while arriving on scene, KSS Senior Officer spotted the suspect fleeing along the dirt road. The suspect was pursued but could not be apprehended. KSS Officers recovered the stolen copper pipes. KSS handed the matter over to SAPS. A case was opened. KSS conducted extra patrols in the area.
2 May 2026 20:12 Andrew Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a non-client requesting assistance after copper pipes were reportedly stolen from the property. KSS Response Teams and SAPS were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that an outside tap had also been stolen. A case was opened.
3 May 2026 09:36 Vear Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received information reporting that suspects were attempting to steal cables in Vear Road. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that the electrical box cover was found closed and no suspects were located on arrival. Eskom 24-hour Services was contacted and they advised that technicians would be dispatched to the scene. KSS conducted extra patrols in the area.
4 May 2026 14:03 Geekie Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a low battery signal from the premises. The client was contacted and Armed Response was requested. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported the suspect had stripped the new cable running from the main house to the new building and had broken the left-side window of the main house. As per the client no need for SAPS. KSS conducted extra patrols in the area.
5 May 2026 14:16 Gush Avenue (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting Armed Response. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that a suspect was apprehended. KSS Officers reported that the suspect had gained access by jumping over the lower section of the fence. No items were stolen as the suspect fled after being disturbed by the client. A per the client no need for SAPS. The suspect was escorted out of the area.
5 May 2026 16:22 Dalton Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client’s neighbour, reporting that a spotlight recently installed at the property had been stolen. KSS Response Officers were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that the suspect jumped over the wall to gain access. A case was opened. KSS conducted extra patrols in the area.
6 May 2026 18:28 Symmonds Lane (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a CCTV Camera Activation of a suspect jumping over the gate at the property. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that a full perimeter check was conducted, however there was no sign of the suspect. KSS Officers reported that the suspect had gone near a vehicle parked on the property, but nothing appeared to have been damaged or stolen. KSS conducted extra patrols in the area.
7 May 2026 14:07 Wear Avenue (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting Armed Response as a solar light had been stolen. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that they met on-site with the client. The suspect gained access by jumping over the wall. As per the client no need for SAPS. KSS conducted extra patrols in the area.
8 May 2026 01:57 Bell Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance as a suspect had been apprehended. KSS Response Teams and SAPS were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that upon questioning, the suspect admitted to stealing bicycles. KSS handed the matter over to SAPS. A case was opened.
8 May 2026 10:09 Rosebank Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client reporting that a battery had been stolen from a truck. KSS Response Teams and SAPS were dispatched. A case was opened. KSS conducted extra patrols in the area.
8 May 2026 08:36 Curry’s Post Road (Curry’s Post) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client reporting a positive break-in. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported numerous items had been stolen. The suspect cut the power cable and then cut the burglar bars. A case was opened.
9 May 2026 09:20 Birnamwood Road (Merrivale Heights) The KSS Control Room received information reporting that copper piping had been stolen. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that the theft had occurred at the back of the property near the geyser. As per the client no need for SAPS.
9 May 2026 13:28 Birnamwood Road (Merrivale Heights) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client reporting a suspected scam involving fraudulent payments. The client advised that the suspect had arranged to collect the order and requested KSS Response Teams to be present. KSS Officers were placed on standby. The suspect failed to arrive at the premises.
9 May 2026 12:21 Main Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client reporting suspected fraudulent transactions involving two separate collections from the business over two consecutive days. KSS Officers were informed that goods to a substantial value had been collected by different vehicles and that both payments were believed to be fraudulent. The client advised that the same driver had allegedly collected both orders and suspected that the incident formed part of a scam involving third-party delivery drivers. KSS Operations Team were able to track and apprehended the suspect. KSS handed the matter over to SAPS. A case was opened.
10 May 2026 03:37 Saligna Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a CCTV Camera Activation of a suspect on-site. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that access had been gained through a window that had been left open due to an extension cable. The suspect attempted to steal electrical cables. KSS Officers reported that the suspect gained access by jumping over the wall. KSS conducted extra patrols in the area.
10 May 2026 19:54 Oakleigh Drive (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation. KSS Response Teams and SAPS were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that two newly installed sensor lights had been stolen from the property. A case was opened. KSS conducted extra patrols in the area.
11 May 2026 12:37 Zeederberg Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that a suspect had stolen a net covering sand and had been apprehended. As per the client no need for SAPS. The suspect was escorted out of the area.
12 May 2026 11.36 Saligna Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client reporting a break-in. KSS Response Teams and SAPS were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that the suspect gained access by jumping over the back wall. A KSS Security Officer was placed on site. A case was opened.
13 May 2026 23:19 Woodburn Farm (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call from a member of public reporting a fire. KSS Response Teams and Emergency Services were dispatched. KSS Officers confirmed that the fire was located on the side of the N3 in a field. KSS Officers reported that the fire department managed to extinguish the fire.
13 May 2026 16:02 Taylor Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client reporting that a geyser had been stolen. KSS Response Teams and SAPS were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that the suspect was known to the client. KSS handed the matter over to SAPS. A case was opened.
13 May 2026 16:32 Geekie Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client reporting a break-in. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that a ladder had been stolen from inside the garage. As per the client no need for SAPS. KSS conducted extra patrols in the area.
15 May 2026 04:13 Mafakatini Location (Mafakatini) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. KSS Control Room contacted the Private Security Officer on-site who stated there had been a break-in. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
15 May 2026 18:01 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client reporting that a gate battery had been stolen from the premises As per the client no need for SAPS. KSS conducted extra patrols in the area.
16 May 2026 06:40 Collier Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client reporting copper pipes had been stolen. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that copper piping had been cut and stolen. The suspect gained access by jumping over the wall. KSS conducted extra patrols in the area.
17 May 2026 07:25 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client reporting an attempted break-in. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that the suspect had broken off copper pipes but fled before removing them. KSS conducted extra patrols in the area. A case was opened.
17 May 2026 16:30 Zeederberg Road (Merrivale) Whilst on patrol a KSS Response Officer noticed a suspect attempting to steal parts from old machinery. The KSS Response Officer apprehended the suspect. The Client and their Private Security Company was contacted. SAPS was dispatched. KSS Officers handed the suspect over to SAPS. A case was opened.
18 May 2026 00:20 Collier Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that suspects had gained access by jumping over the concrete wall and had stolen copper piping before fleeing when the alarm was activated. KSS conducted extra patrols in the area. A case was opened.
18 May 2026 17:55 Symmonds Lane (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a panic activation. KSS Response Teams and SAPS were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that a suspect had tampered with the gate motor from outside the property and removed the battery. The suspect fled when the client approached the gate. The battery was recovered on-site. KSS conducted extra patrols in the area. A case was opened.
20 May 2026 10:08 Mafakatini Location (Mafakatini) The KSS Control Room received a call from a reporting a break-in. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that suspects had gained access by forcing open the pedestrian gate, doors and the strong room door. The alarm system had been ripped out. Numerous electronic items were stolen. A case was opened.
20 May 2026 14:10 Zeederberg Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a message that a suspect had been apprehended by the on-site Private Security Officer. KSS Response Teams attended the scene along with SAPS. KSS Officers reported that the suspect had stolen cheese. KSS handed the situation over to SAPS.
20 May 2026 15:04 Harvard Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client reporting that a municipal water meter previously stolen from the property had been replaced earlier in the day, but the installation remained incomplete and there was a concern with it being stolen again. As per the client no need for SAPS. KSS conducted extra patrols in the area.
20 May 2026 17:53 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a report that two male suspects entered a gym under the pretence of enquiring about membership and subsequently stole a company cellphone. As per the client no need for SAPS or Armed Response.
22 May 2026 03:08 Thambo Road (Mpophomeni) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. KSS Response Teams and SAPS were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that suspects had broken the lock securing the main gate and had forced entry into the office. Numerous electronic items were stolen. A case was opened.
22 May 2026 08:22 Old Main Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a report that an LED light had been stolen from the premises. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that CCTV footage was checked, however no suspicious activity could be identified. As per the client no need for SAPS.
23 May 2026 16:35 Valley View and River View Road (Howick West) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance following a motor vehicle accident. KSS Response Teams and Emergency Services were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that the incident was a head-on collision and that the occupants of the second vehicle fled the scene before SAPS arrival. A case was opened.
24 May 2026 22:57 Valley View Road (Howick West) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting Armed Response. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that copper piping had been stolen from the back of the cottage. As per the client no need for SAPS. KSS conducted extra patrols in the area.
24 May 2026 23:37 Winterwood Lane (Merrivale Heights) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client reporting a possible suspect in the yard. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers conducted a full patrol and inspection of the property but no suspect was located. The method of entry could not be determined and no items were reported stolen. KSS conducted extral patrols in the area.
25 May 2026 10:06 Main Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance KSS Response Teams and SAPS were dispatched. KSS Response Teams met with the client as well as SAPS on-site. KSS Officers reported that a staff member was seen on CCTV footage stealing alcohol, most of which was recovered hidden in nearby bushes. The suspect further advised that another individual was still in possession of keys to the premises. As per the client a set of keys had gone missing. KSS handed the situation over to SAPS. A case was opened.
25 May 2026 11:31 Saligna Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting Armed Response. KSS Response Teams and SAPS were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that the suspect allegedly attempted to sell copper believed to belong to Transnet. During questioning, the suspect claimed that the copper had been given to him by another individual to sell on his behalf. KSS handed the situation over to SAPS. A case was opened.
26 May 2026 12:49 Market Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that the suspect had fled by jumping over the wall. The suspect had moved the dustbin to the garage window and used it to climb up, damaging the burglar guard in an apparent attempt to gain entry. No items were stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS.
27 May 2026 01:58 Birnamwood Road (Merrivale Heights) The KSS Control Room received a call from an on-site staff member reporting that a stone had been thrown through the window. A mains failure signal from the fence had also been received in the KSS Control Room. KSS Response Teams and SAPS were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that suspects had stolen cameras from the property. Access was gained by breaking the lock on the gate. Multiple security systems on site had been tampered with. KSS Officers also reported that suspects had attempted to remove electrical cabling but abandoned it on-site. A full inspection of the main house was conducted and no signs of forced entry were found, A case was opened.
