Opportunistic theft remains prevalent throughout our operational areas, with copper piping, electrical cable, borehole cable and other unsecured items continuing to be targeted. We encourage all residents and businesses to remain vigilant, ensure alarm systems are armed and report any suspicious activity immediately.

KSS Incidents(16 -31 July 2026)
16 July 2026 – 09:00 – Old Howick Road (Howick)
The KSS Control Room received a call reporting an attempted theft at a container situated next to the business premises. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that a suspect had broken a window in an attempt to gain access. The alarm system activated, and a KSS Response Officer attended the premises and found everything in order. The client further advised that a security guard had been patrolling the premises at the time of the incident. As per the client, there was no need for SAPS to attend.
16 July 2026 – 14:11 – Geekie Road (Merrivale)
The KSS Control Room received a call reporting the theft of a braai stand. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that the suspect gained access by jumping over the perimeter wall before stealing a braai stand from the tenant's veranda. As per the client, there was no need for SAPS to attend.
17 July 2026 – 01:14 – Shafton Road (Howick)
While conducting routine patrols in the area, KSS Response Officers observed suspicious activity involving several individuals with hunting dogs. KSS Officers investigated and located four males together with three hunting dogs. One of the individuals advised that a dog had jumped from the vehicle while chasing a rabbit. KSS Officers warned the individuals and instructed them to leave the area.
17 July 2026 – 22:00 – Laglibalele Road (Mpophomeni)
The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation reporting that a vehicle had collided with the boundary wall of the property. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that the driver was under the influence of alcohol and was driving without a valid driver's licence. SAPS attended the scene and arrested the driver. The driver's family made arrangements with the client to repair the damaged wall.
18 July 2026 – 05:00 – Wapenaar Road (Merrivale)
The KSS Control Room received a Panic Alarm activation reporting the theft of copper piping. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that approximately six metres of copper piping had been stolen after the suspect gained access by climbing over the rear perimeter wall. Footprints were found on the wall. As per the client, there was no need for SAPS to attend.
18 July 2026 – 08:39 – Oakleigh Drive (Howick)
The KSS Control Room received a call reporting the theft of a solar garden light. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that the suspect gained access by climbing over the perimeter fence before stealing the solar garden light during the previous evening. SAPS were notified and attended the scene. A case was opened.
19 July 2026 – 08:25 – Wapenaar Road (Merrivale)
The KSS Control Room received a message reporting the theft of a garden gate. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers attended the property to investigate. SAPS were notified and attended the scene. Further investigations were conducted.
19 July 2026 – 12:33 – Riverview Road (Howick West)
The KSS Control Room was advised of a theft in progress in the area. KSS Response Officers assisted another security company in the successful apprehension of an armed suspect who had stolen several items from a nearby business. SAPS attended the scene and the suspect was handed over for further investigation.
19 July 2026 – 19:55 – Exchange Lane (Howick)
The KSS Control Room received a CCTV Camera activation reporting a suspect on the premises. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that the suspect gained access by jumping over the main gate before attempting to steal electrical cable from beneath a truck. The suspect was apprehended on the premises. As per the client, the suspect was issued with a warning and released.
19 July 2026 – 21:00 – Oakleigh Drive (Howick)
The KSS Control Room received a Panic Alarm activation reporting a suspect on the property. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that the suspect gained access from the riverside, where there is no perimeter fencing, before stealing an outside light from the veranda. SAPS attended the scene and took over the investigation.
20 July 2026 – 00:07 – Fyvie Road (Howick West)
The KSS Control Room received a CCTV Camera activation reporting a suspect on the premises. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers conducted a full search of the property; however, the suspect had fled prior to their arrival. A patrol of the surrounding area was conducted, but the suspect could not be located. The client was informed accordingly.
20 July 2026 – 00:10 – Rylands Road (Howick)
The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation reporting a possible theft at the property. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that the suspect gained access by jumping over the perimeter fence before stealing an outside brass tap. SAPS attended the scene and took over the investigation.
20 July 2026 – 03:54 – Holiday Road (Merrivale)
The KSS Control Room received a Panic Alarm activation reporting the theft of copper piping. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that all of the copper piping had been stolen after the suspect gained access by climbing over the perimeter fence. At the client's request, additional patrols were conducted.
21 July 2026 – 12:53 – Main Street (Howick)
The KSS Control Room received a call reporting a theft in progress at the premises. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that a suspect had stolen a socket wrench set and two padlocks before being apprehended on the premises. The stolen property was recovered. The client elected to open a record of the incident with SAPS.
21 July 2026 – 14:49 – Main Street (Howick)
The KSS Control Room received a request for assistance following an attempted fraud at a local business. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that the suspect attempted to open an account using fraudulent documentation and banking details. SAPS attended the scene and a case was opened.
25 July 2026 – 02:18 – Valley View Road (Howick)
The KSS Control Room received a call reporting suspicious noises outside the property. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that suspects had gained access by jumping over the low front perimeter wall before stealing approximately one metre of copper piping and an outside tap. The client advised that the matter would be reported to SAPS later that morning. The client requested additional patrols in the area, and KSS conducted extra patrols for the remainder of the morning.
25 July 2026 – 10:54 – Laurel Crescent (Merrivale)
The KSS Control Room received a CCTV Camera activation reporting a suspect on the premises. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that the suspect gained access by jumping over the rear perimeter fence before attempting to steal electrical cables. The suspect also tampered with the distribution board and attempted to gain entry into the building by opening a window. The suspect was apprehended on the premises pending the client's arrival. SAPS attended the scene; however, the client elected not to open a case, and the suspect was released into the custody of SAPS.
27 July 2026 – 00:12 – Prospect Road (Howick)
The KSS Control Room received a report from an on-site KSS Security Officer of suspects attempting to climb an electrical pole. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that the suspects fled the scene upon noticing the KSS Security Officer. No property was stolen.
27 July 2026 – 15:26 – Greenfields Place (Merrivale)
The KSS Control Room received a call reporting the theft of copper piping from business premises. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that suspects had gained access from the rear of the property, where there was no perimeter fencing, before stealing copper piping from the geyser installation.
29 July 2026 – 08:40 – Birnamwood Road (Merrivale Heights)
The KSS Control Room received a message reporting the theft of borehole cable from the property. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that the borehole cable had been stolen during the previous evening. No alarm activations were received, as the borehole installation was not protected by the alarm system.
29 July 2026 – 10:13 – Oakleigh Drive (Howick)
The KSS Control Room received a call reporting a series of thefts from the property over three consecutive nights. KSS Officers reported that suspects gained access by jumping over the perimeter fence before stealing outdoor chairs and, during the most recent incident, a step ladder. The client advised that the matter would be reported to SAPS.
29 July 2026 – 10:57 – Protea Gardens (Howick)
The KSS Control Room received a request to review alarm activity following the reported theft of a laptop from a residence. KSS Officers reported that there were no signs of forced entry and it is believed that the suspect gained access through an unsecured window before stealing the laptop. No fence alarm activations were recorded during the period in question. The client advised that the matter would be reported to SAPS.
31 July 2026 – 19:55 – Rylands Road (Howick)
The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation reporting a suspected theft in progress. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that a suspect attempted to steal outdoor furniture from the property before fleeing the scene. SAPS were notified and attended the property to investigate. Further investigations were conducted.
Stay vigilant. Report all suspicious persons or vehicles immediately, ensure your alarm system is armed whenever your property is unattended, and remember to report all crimes to SAPS.
