KSS Incidents – 16–30 September 2026
16 September 2026 – 12:40 – Zeederberg Road (Merrivale)
The KSS Control Room received a request for assistance from a Private Security Officer who had apprehended a known suspect attempting to leave with Melrose cheese valued at R81.99. SAPS was contacted and a vehicle was requested to attend.
16 September 2026 – 18:31 – Main Street (Howick)
The KSS Control Room received alarm activations. KSS Response Teams were dispatched and found wire coils on the wall and inside the yard. Camera footage showed a suspect on the property carrying the coils, which were dropped when KSS Armed Response arrived. The items were recovered. The client requested that SAPS be contacted the following morning.
16 September 2026 – 21:10 – Tulip Road (Howick West)
The KSS Control Room received a camera and alarm activation from a property in Tulip Road. KSS Response Teams attended after a suspect attempting to gain entry to a neighbouring property and fled through the property. Nothing was stolen from either property.
16 September 2026 – 20:30 – Vear Road (Merrivale)
The KSS Control Room received a report of copper theft. Copper pipes were stolen after access was gained over a wall. The client advised that she would report the matter to SAPS directly. KSS conducted extra patrols in the area.
17 September 2026 – Devonshire Road (Howick)
The KSS Control Room received a report that four solar lights had been stolen from the property. The client requested patrols for the evening and advised that he would attend the KSS office the following day. The client did not require Armed Response or SAPS to attend the property.
17 September 2026 – 22:53 – Old Main Road (Howick)
The KSS Control Room received a report of suspects on the property. Two suspects were seen stealing approximately 5–6 metres of netting from the outside of the fence. KSS Response Teams pursued the suspects but could not locate them. KSS conducted extra patrols in the area.
18 September 2026 – 15:15 – Lakeview Road (Howick)
The KSS Control Room received a report of a theft at a private residence. The client reported that a known female suspect had allegedly entered the property and left with a laptop bag containing an old Acer laptop. The client reported the matter to SAPS.
19 September 2026 – 20:33 – Rosebank Gardens, Oakleigh Drive (Howick)
The KSS Control Room received a panic activation from Rosebank Gardens. KSS Response Teams were dispatched and found that three solar lights had been stolen from Unit 17. The suspect gained access over a short fence and used a chair to exit the property. SAPS was requested and a unit was dispatched.
20 September 2026 – Riley Crescent (Howick)
The KSS Control Room received a report that three gold bracelets and three pairs of gold earrings were missing from a private residence. The client believed access may have been gained using a duplicate key. The circumstances were reported to KSS and the client intended to address the matter with the individual concerned and involve SAPS.
21 September 2026 – Clarendon Road (Howick)
The KSS Control Room received a report that a small solar panel and an outside light had been stolen during the night. KSS Senior Response attended and identified footprints indicating access over a wall. As per the client, there was no need for SAPS to attend. The client expressed concern that suspects could return because of copper piping and a geyser on the property.
22 September 2026 – D292 (Merrivale)
The KSS Control Room received a report of a theft. Copper wires had been stolen from machinery and a truck battery had been removed and left aside. SAPS was informed and attended the property. The client opened a case. During the investigation, a suspect fled when KSS arrived, leaving a vehicle, cellphone, tools and a bag behind. These items were handed over to SAPS.
23 September 2026 – District Drive (Merrivale)
The KSS Control Room received a call regarding an attempted break-in. KSS Response attended and found a broken window at the cottage with glass on the floor. The suspect appeared to have been disturbed by a dog inside the property. Nothing was stolen. As per the client, there was no need for SAPS to attend. KSS conducted extra patrols in the area.
24 September 2026 – 02:00 – Park Road (Howick)
The KSS Control Room received information regarding a break-in. The suspect gained access over a wall and stole a large box of broken electrical cord. The suspect was disturbed by dogs and fled. As per the client, SAPS was not required. KSS conducted extra patrols in the area.
25 September 2026 – Dalton Road (Howick)
The KSS Control Room received a report of a break-in. The suspect gained entry over the main gate and stole eight large solar lights, three small solar lights, six small solar panels and a pair of shoes. SAPS was requested and a vehicle was dispatched. The client remained on site to meet SAPS and open a case.
26 September 2026 – 05:49 – D292 (Merrivale)
The KSS Control Room received a call from the Onsite KSS Security Officer requesting assistance after spotting a suspect near the fence line. Senior Response and a Response Unit were dispatched. The suspect fled after seeing the Onsite KSS Security Officer.
26 September 2026 – 08:20 – Hillbrow Road (Howick)
The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation and was subsequently informed that an outside table and two plastic chairs had been stolen. KSS Response Teams attended and established that the suspect had gained access by jumping over the main gate. KSS conducted extra patrols in the area.
28 September 2026 – 21:03 – Rosebank Gardens, Oakleigh Drive (Howick)
The KSS Control Room received panic activations from Units 14 and 17. KSS Response Teams were dispatched and found that three solar lights had been stolen from Unit 18. During the chase, the suspect dropped a solar light and solar panel and left his shoes behind. SAPS attended the scene and the recovered items were handed over.
29 September 2026 – Saligna Road (Merrivale)
The KSS Control Room received a request for SAPS assistance following a report concerning copper piping brought to SA Recycling. Response attended and established that the copper was allegedly from premises where PVC piping had been installed. SAPS also dealt with an item of heavy iron found in the suspect's possession.
30 September 2026 – 18:02 – Greenfields, Merrivale
KSS Response Teams noticed a suspect carrying a plastic dog box near Old Main Road. When approached, the suspect dropped the box and fled. KSS checked the surrounding area and established that the dog box belonged to a resident in Greenfields. The suspect had gained access to the property by jumping the rear fence.
